This post is for everyone to LIST (not debate) the issues that help you determine whether or not you'll be voting in the upcoming election in the :usa and in other countries. I think we can learn from each other and about what is important to others in deciding what you're voting for. I know that I am interested in what other people view as important. I think by seeing what's important to others, we might even realize some things we want to look more into when deciding on a political candidate.

I don't want this post to be a debate so I'm asking that anyone who responds please do so in a list without an explanation and please be sensitive in your choice of words as not to make anyone feel unsafe in posting. Let's prove to each other that liberals, conservatives and a combination can all welcome each other's priorities in voting

My list includes (in no particular order):

:bullet Pro choice including late term termination
:bullet Pro stem cell reseach
:bullet Anti gun rights
:bullet Pro gay marriage
:bullet Pro health care and medical research
:bullet Tax reform targetting middle and lower income brackets
:bullet Social Security and medicare solvency
:bullet Welfare to work programs
:bullet Pro working WITH the rest of the world on international issues
:bullet Prison reformed geared at treatment and rehabilitation
:bullet Nominating liberals to the supreme court

I'm going to risk getting bashed here by making the decision to close this post. I think we need to let the topic go for a few days or a week. Right now, it is a continuation of a closed post, and one where emotions might be running a little... so lets just let it go for the time being.

I want everyone to keep in mind that the current events forum here is not a stand-alone current events bulletin board. It is a forum that stands as PART OF an Eating Disorders support community. While getting into debates about politics and arguing with people about views can be healthy, it is also something we knew we'd have to watch closely as part of THIS site. Current events include many topics other than vehemently arguing political views -- respectfully discussing politics is okay, but arguing is not going to be tolerated HERE. If that's the kind of discussion anyone seeks, an ED site isn't the place to look -- there are lots of political discussion forums out there.

Take care of YOU
