I thought since I contributed to the discussion on the ups and downs of the Reagan presidency, I'd start a positve thread about them, on the day of his funeral and burial.

My opinion is that Nancy Reagan is an incredibly strong, loving and admirable woman in her dedication to Ronald over the past years. She's basically dedicated the past fifteen to caring for him and participating in activities geared to perserving his place in history. She's barely left his side for the past five years, since he broke his hip and his health deteriorated.
We've gotten a to know a lot more about Reagan the man because of Nancy. I began to admire him as a man a few years ago when Nancy published a book of his love letters to her. If you've read the book or heard any of the letters read, his love for Nancy and his romanticism is absolutely beautiful. He had a way with words and loved to write them to everyone, not just Nancy. If anyone reading this is too young to remember when there was no internet, computers or instant way to communicate at a distance except for phone and telegram, you might not understand the signifigance of letters as much in the context of today's society.

I heard on the news that he turned to look at her one last time before he died :sad.

Being fairly young I didn't know much about the couple, but I was nearly moved to tears by pictures on TV of the funeral, her not wanting to leave the coffin :touched I'm keeping her in my thoughts at the moment :love
