RESUME:

GEORGE W. BUSH
sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC two-zero-five-two-zero

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Law Enforcement:

I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in MCMLXXIX for driving under the
influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's
license suspended for thirty days. My Texas driving record has been "lost"
and is not available.

Military:

I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a

drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the
Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid
combat duty in Vietnam.
College:

I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a
cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business
in Midland, Texas, in MMLXXV.

I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company

went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas
Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer

money.

With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry
(including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS

I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making
Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston
replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in

borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American
history.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's
appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by
over five hundred thousand votes. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal

record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one
billion dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.

I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any
twelve month period.

I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a twelve month period.

I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the
U.S. stock market. In my first year in office, over two million Americans
lost their jobs and that trend continues every month.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any
administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza
Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S.
President.

I am the all-time U.S and world record-holder for receiving the most
corporate campaign donations.

My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends,
Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in
U.S. History, Enron.

My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to
assure my success with the US. Supreme Court during my election
decision.

I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against
investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent
investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent
investigating one of the biggest corporate rip- offs in history.

I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to

intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I
presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded
government contracts.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any
President in U.S. history.

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in
the history of the United States government.

I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S.
history.

I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations
remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.

I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspector's access to U.S. "prisoners of war"
detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.

I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election
inspectors (during the MMII U.S. election).

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any
President since the advent of television.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year
period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the

worst security failure in U.S. history.

I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center
attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country
in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to

simultaneously protest me in public venues (fifteen million people),
shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of
mankind.

I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked,
pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I
did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S.
citizens, and the world community.

I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in
duty benefits for active duty troops and their families -- in wartime.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking

Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends.

I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans
(seventy one%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and
security.

I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a
WMD.

I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden [sic]

to justice. RECORDS AND REFERENCES:

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's
library, sealed and unavailable for public view.

All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my
bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public
view.

All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President,
attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and
unavailable for public review. PLEASE CONSIDER MY EXPERIENCE WHEN VOTING

IN MMIV.

Pretty sure Ribbon's not applying for Presidency of the "most powerful nation in the world" - when ribbon does, then I wanna see the list!!!!! :winky

That's a pretty big list of issues there :/

The primary elections have just begun. The republican candidate will be George Bush because he's unopposed. The democrats are in the process of electing their candidate now through the primaries. In the summer the Democrats and Republicans will hold conventions to formally select the presidential and vice presidential candidates. These candidates, as well as independent and possible third party candidates will be elected November second MMIV.

To put it simply--no. :winky

gudinne

Yes.

Because I get my information from more valid sources than CNN, moveon.org and Michael Moore.

Because maybe osama hasn't been found yet, but ******** of the ******** other terrorists on the list since ****/******** have, including a horrible man who imprisoned children and funded terrorists. Look at how the house of cards in the terrorist circle is steadily falling now that he's gone.

Because basic economics and history teaches us that the forces of societal change cannot be blamed on one person, no matter how comforting it is to take up a torch and run with the lynch mob when we're scared.

Because as a fallible human I don't mind being represented by other fallible humans, so I could care less about someone's "sordid past" and "miserable failures." I admire anyone who can stand up and make tough decisions in these horribly complex and evil times.

Because I've voted Dem in the past, but I have yet to hear anything from the Dems this time around other than how important it is that I hate Bush, or how certain they are that I need some sort of government handout, and I disagree.

Because everything the Dems are saying now sounds like what the Socialists were saying right before they gave the reins to Hitler.

See you at the polls.

I'm curious- what do you base that statement on? Something in particular that you read/saw/heard? Who do you think is today's Hitler?

I am glad you asked. It's a combination of many things. I'm kind of a junkie when it comes to news, politics and the history behind them, especially when I've had my coffee. :-)

I think it's really important that people take the time to find out what's going on behind the headlines. You would be amazed at how easily your rights are eroded away by the very people (on both ends of the political spectrum) who claim to uphold them. You would be amazed at how effective the media is at distracting you from the true chain of events that lead us to where we are today! I'll hit the highlights that started me down this road, and spare you my own interpretations...

*The Road to Serfdom - Hayak (written in pre WWII days about Socialism).

*A Life Magazine series from the pre-WWII days where America was contemplating its involvement in Europe's issues.

*"Blogs" - weblogs, sort of the alternative media on both the conservative and liberal sides. They go deeper than the mainstream media headlines.

*I personally know several of the folks serving in Iraq right now, and am getting firsthand information of the so-called "occupation."

This board is not about political debate so I will link this back to ED. I draw a parallel in my own life to bingeing on food and bingeing on the mainstream media and politicians' rhetoric. I think it's just another form of choosing to be unaware and filling myself up with garbage. Looking at the truth is scary, and complicated, and at times there is nothing I can do to control it other than sit with my feelings, eat right when I can, use my brain to get behind the headlines, and vote. I know that the key to my survival as a recovering ED sufferer, and as a woman fortunate enough to be born an American in the twentieth century, is NOT TO FALL ASLEEP AND LET SOMEONE OR SOMETHING ELSE RUN MY LIFE.

OK, I'm switching to decaf for the rest of the day....

LOL, Ribbon! Well, I didn't vote for Bush last time and I sure as heck am not going to vote for him this next time around, either. Hope they'll get those voting machines in Florida repaired before the election.... <g>

Gudinne-
Thanks for bringing some different perspectives and intelligent discussion to this thread. It's always much more interesting when someone has a new thought to add.
I also try to seek out alternative news sources, but the farther I get from the mainstream the more heavily slanted they seem to be. While it's good to get different perspectives, I find myself equally skeptical of everything I've been reading lately.
I know that recent world events cannot be entirely blamed on Bush, and it really frustrates me when people try to do so. It's just much easier than considering the big picture and all of the people involved. I'm a die-hard liberal, I've gotta say... but I've recently been getting frustrated with both political parties when it turns to chanting and finger pointing instead of intelligent debate. It's why I avoid anti-war protests even when I'm anti-war. What you said about the "lynch mob" rang true for me.
That said, I still can't say I'd vote for Bush... but I appreciate hearing other opinions.

Thats all the bad things Bush has done why dont you post postive things also that he has done every one makes a ton of mistakes in life and life is pretty much trial an error i think he is a great president and will keep helping to make this country better.

I suppose a Republican could do exactly the same thing to a democrat - post the resumé of whoever the Democrat Presidential Candidate is.

Anyway, didn't Clinton dodge the draft?

My A-level history teacher dodged the Vietnam draft by coming over to Europe and, as of ****************-****************, he'd been here ever since!

I honestly can't think of one good thing he's done for the country. I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. I can think of things he hasn't screwed up, but that doesn't qualify as good for me.

Hmmm...............

I'm actually an independent which I think is great because it eliminates the temptation to vote along party lines. Does George Bush have his faults? Yes, as Bill Clinton did, as Al Gore did, as we all do. From a national and international policy perspective I must admit that GWB has scared me less overall than Clinton did. Although I'm not a Bush fan I haven't excluded the fact that he may be the best canidate come November. Obviously a lot will happen between now and then and sadly politics may prevent us as a nation from electing the best canidate. I hope that is not the case.
