:muhaha :sarcasm Not changing the name again, no worries! Did you see that last post I wrote to you with the link to the UU site (http://www.uua.org/main.html)? If not, check back under that initial thread we were responding under.
And I agree... I think it may very well be the one for me, too. I've ruled out Scientology (but I'll refrain from stating why, here), and Baha'I, another one that I like a lot, is too God-centered, which is something I still--and may always--struggle with. UU seems so free, so individual. I love that!

AKA heather..........
Yes, I went to that website (thanks for the link :grin). That's where I read up about UU and decided to give the church a try. I looked it up in my phone book and they don't "operate" in the summer ??? I've heard that about other cities, too. Weird....... Anyway, they'll start services in the Fall.
:cool
Thanks for sharing, Ramblin........ :muhaha

Hey.......:dog
After months of searching and reading up on the different types of dogs, we've finally narrowed it down to which one to get: a shiz-tzu (spelled that wrong perhaps??) What do you know about this breed??
I'm going Monday to a breeder to look at the pups. They're only three weeks old, so the lady said I wouldn't be able to take one home for about another six weeks, but I could reserve the one I wanted.
Just wanted your DOGGY opinion :supergrin !!

:hugonKieran:hugoff A puppy, I'm so excited!:supergrin....this is a breed that I particularily like myself and have decided that when the day comes that I want a smaller dog I'd be getting either a shi-tzu (she sue) or a cross of this happy go lucky little people loving dog. Smart, affectionate, funny, a real personality in an adorable non shedding package. If you have never raised a puppy before please take the time to find a puppy kindergarten class near you as those first few months of socialization last a lifetime. Also, read Good Owner, Great Dog....have a ball, :dog's rule!!.....:love :dog

...okay...off topic again.....
:dog.....
Those are the main reasons for picking a shih tzu (the correct spelling.....looked it up :muhaha ). Personality, lovability, and NO SHEDDING!!! My sister-in-law has one and she adores the dog.......so do we!! We dog-sit for them once in a while. Also, my five year old daughter likes the dog, which is VERY important :yay
Nope, never raised a puppy. This will be VERY interesting......and fun!! Got six weeks to think of a name. Because of it's heritage, I'd like something Chinese/Tibetan-sounding. The doggy class sounds like a good idea :idea. Should be a plus.
"Good Owner, Great Dog"......is this a book?
Thanks for all the info, :dog !! Much appreciated :happy

I'm going to bump this thread up, because I'm wondering if anyone else could also share their experiences about UU?
I have read just a tiny bit on the faith, and went to my first UU church today. I really like the idea that independent thought is encouraged and the emphasis on inclusiveness. What's way cool is that two of the four ministers at this church are women. Also, they are very gay-friendly (one of the ministers is a lesbian).
Anyone else want to share their experiences and knowledge?

Snookums, I would love to hear anything that you can tell about UU. I am more inclined toward doing my own thing spiritually as I believe in a really eclectic collection of ideas and don't like to be pigeonholed at all. The Sufi's are pretty open to all ideas and I understand the UU is also. We have a UU meeting place in the city near me so I'd be interested in knowing more about them. Thanks doggie
