Red Gardens

She lives in red gardens
But not red as red may seem

There are

Blue flowers
Blue jays
Blue rivers
Blue skies

There are

Green pastures
Green trees
Green leaves
Green stems

There are

Yellow daffodils
Yellow butterflies
Yellow suns
Yellow Jackets

She says she is red
That red is never really red

Red is blue, green, and yellow
Red is corruption
Red is sacrilegious thoughts
Red is black trickles

Of tear drops crying
Of beauty dying
Of withered woodlands
Of ancient ruins

She knows gardens aren’t red
She only lives in them.
