Okay fishy's- it's time to step up to the plate. I have the largest favor in the world to ask all of you. One of my best friends, Nicole Gilbert, was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia this last June. That means that her bone marrow does not produce the blood that she needs to survive. It's much like Luekemia, but her platelet counts are not skyrocketed because there is no infection, the marrow simply does not work. They tried giving her blood transfusions, and now, after about eight weeks of that- they are taking bone marrow transplant. Her brother was tested earlier last week and was not a match. Her father was tested yesterday, and we will know this afternoon whether or not he matches. The chances that Nicole will have to check out the National Bone Marrow Donor's List is very high. Here's where you come in. I need all of you to get yourselve's tested. All you have to do is give a blood sample. It's just like if you were getting your CBC's done at any doctor's appointment. They can determine if your blood carries the six antibodies and characteristics that Nicole (or anyone else for that matter) needs to survive. I realize what a big thing this is to ask of someone. I dont want anyone to jump into this blindly. Research it. Research the process, what happens if you do donate, and what happens if you don't. I love Nicole with all of my heart, and to sit back and watch her die would be the worst thing I could ever do. So, please- anyone, join me in getting added to the registery. Any Bonfils center can do that for you, amony many other locations. At least check it out. Thanks everyone!

star,

I know this is a sensitive issue for you, but we don't allow cross-posting on the site... we also don't allow this kind of solicitation of members. Unfortunately, if we allow it once, we will have other members posting and cross-posting the same kinds of posts.

Because you are not a new member and because this is so important to you and your friend's life, I will allow your post to stay in place on the a/b board (the busiest forum) until tomorrow, but then we will have to close it. Please send me some e-mail about this because I CAN include your message in our Newsletter, and that goes out to fifty-thousand people!

Take care of YOU and good luck in your search.
