I wrote this after SI and as an accomplishment poem for fighting the urge to keep living after a very hard evening of feeling alone and ignored and not cared for. Im proud of myself for relying on me to get me through this horrible evening.

I went finger painting

I went finger painting
This night
Bright swirls of
Red on paper
I’m bleeding roses breathing
In life
Capturing something more
Than a picture
From a spectrum
Of light

A mirage

A fantasy

A whimsy

This was no ordinary
Peace of art
It was singular and
Unique
Symbolically discrete
A decorative
Adornment lavished
In layers
Upon infinite layers
Of asylum

My canvas

My abode

My habitat

Meticulousness matters
But dare I say
It does
I always carry sloppy
Disarrayed
Paintbrushes around
Dispersing
refined red raindrops
where
soft bristles recline

Many strokes

Many swirls

Many skews

Of all the odious others
This night
I went finger painting.

I really love this poem....I am a fellow writer (a creative writing major on my way to San Francisco State Uni) and I see a very unique voice and great metaphors!! I LOVE it!!! I love these lines:

"Capturing something more
Than a picture
From a spectrum
Of light"

"A decorative
Adornment lavished
In layers
Upon infinite layers
Of asylum"

Absolutely wonderful! AND BRILLIANT!!!!!
