Thinking Of Changing My Name

Seeing as my name isn't actually Isabel Knight and pretty much everybody here knows that now, I keep thinking that it's a bit well.... silly really, that I continue to go by that alias.

(For those of you who don't know, Isabel Knight is the name of the main character in a novel I'm writing. I took on her name when I first joined the :bowl, since I didn't want to use my own real name).

What do you all think? Should I change? If so, what to? Any ideas?

My point was, I suppose, that Isabel_Knight could be a real name, whereas something like Pooh-Bear-Fan obviously isn't :winky.

I think a name is basically one way you choose to affirm who you are. that's one of the reasons I don't like tillie very much- because if I used it and nothing else, I'd feel like I was hiding, pretending to be someone I'm not. I do have other names (besides Mary, my given name) that feel real to me, that feel like Who. I. Am. I go by them among my friends quite often, and it's great. so my two cents would be to do what feels good to you. let the name you use be a way to remind yourself of the good inside you.

Hey - I wish I hadn't called myself curlylocks, seeing as my hair is pretty moody & variable these days...It was an old nickname from my youth, when I really did have an abundance of curls!:winky

I can't change my name though cos I've already changed it once...& by the time my name was changed, I was also straightening my hair!:sarcasm

At the end of the day, do whatever makes you feel comfortable, & remember it's not that important in the overall scheme of things!

For three years almost I have known you as Isabel_Knight.

That's why you will ALWAYS be Isabel_Knight in my mind and heart.

Out of all the fishies I know....you were the very first one I met.

I originally posted under a different name back in the ooooooooold days :sarcasm, but changed my name to Willow almost three years ago now. Some people now insist on calling me Willow in my real life, and I have seriously thought about changing it to that... though my mother keeps telling me it makes her think of the movie Willow... lol :yay

A name is a very important thing, I think, even if it is a pseudonym. To me you will always be Isabel... and there's just no getting around that :supergrin

I met random fishies who I spoke to once who I never remembered the names of only days after the convos...

you're the first fishy I met and remember if you catch my drift....I count you as the first fishy I knew.

And then there was Ali....if you remember her...but anyway this isn't a history lesson LOL.

I was johanne on the boards for a year....but didn't want the world to know my name...paranoid of close family seeing it.....so became ShootingSTAR...closed that account too...then became ShootingSTARS....but it doesn't change who I am.

A name change wouldn't truly change who you are..so if you do want to change go for it....people still see you the same...if it is important to you then change it.
