Oh no, is the perm permanent?

I've been wanting to perm my hair actually but I've been so :scared because if I didn't like it - I may be stuck with it.
Was it a home perm? Maybe you could call the company's hotline on the box? If it was a salon perm- can you go back to the salon or try to go to a new salon? :hugon Daffodil :hugoff GOOD LUCK :clover

it probably sounds pretty obvious but the process of perming is exactly the opposite of chemical straightening. They use chemicals to break down the bonds in your hair which is what causes so much damage.

I would really advise against getting it straightened..... I had VERY thick healthy hair before I had mine done and it virtually ruined my hair. I can't imagine what straightening on top of a perm would do. I am afraid you may have to wait for it to grow out! Or buy a hair straightener and use that.

Here's a suggestion....

Blow dry it straight every day until it grows out :cheesy

Hope this helps

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have very curly hair that i used to blow dry straight every day, and THAT SUCKS!!!! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer is: perm solution! Yes! Do it all normally, but instead of putting your hair in curlers, comb it out straight and flat against your head and let it sit in a way that your hair is as straight as possible.

i used to do this all the time - first had it done in a salon, but then decided that i could buy a box and do it myself the exact same and save some money - it didn't get rid of the curl completely, but relaxed it quite a bit. and it's no more harmful than a regular perm.

can't hurt! good :clover!

Anne

I hope this gets better for you! I've heard of a company called OUIDAD which specializes in curly hair - maybe they have a site? Just make sure you use lots of conditioner if you relax it!!

All my best hope and wishes for you Claire! Are you getting the relaxer from a beauty supply place? If you are - some of the associates are pretty knowledgeable about what they sell - I go to SALLY Beauty Supply and they re a chain- but maybe calling the number on the back of the box or bottle would be good. Keep us up to date - we're hoping the best for you!
