About the TREE....
:xmas When do you put up the Christmas tree? The day after Thanksgiving. :gobble

:xmas Theme or no theme? White and silver...and ornaments.
:xmas What kind of topper? It's hard to explain, but I'll try :cute It's like a spear on top with a ball on the bottom, it is silver and white.
:xmas What's your favorite ornament? It's hard to choose, because everyone of them has special meaning, but I'd have to say my hubby and I first ornament we bought together. It's a purple blown glass ball made in Switzerland.
:xmas What does your tree skirt look like? Do bunches of pine needles count? :winky
:xmas Where do you put your tree? Well, we haven't had a Christmas here yet, so I'm not sure where to put it. Most likely in the living room in the corner near the dining room.

:snowman I didn't even know trees wore skirts! If a 'skirt' is like the bit at the bottom... well our tree is in a large pot with earth in it and the pot is strategically covered with christmas wrapping paper - whatever christmas paper we happen to find in the cupboard.
Where do you put your tree?
:snowman In the hall by the floor-to-ceiling window so that you can see it from outside.
Who decorates the tree?
Me.
What's "under" the tree?
:snowman Presents; but not usually for the first two weeks due to lack of organisation in my family :grin

No.

We're always on vacation on Xmas eve so I hang a pillow case outside my hotel door

How long does it take you to decorate?
It takes me about three hours to do the Xmas tree because I get upset when it's not symmetrical and so have to start over again :ugh

:snowman I don't watch much Xmas TV but if Home Alone is on I'd probably watch it out of nostalgia (I used to think Macauley was hot when I was little :sarcasm )

:snowman I don't stuff stockings cos I still live with my parents but they sometimes put an orange and some random candy in to fill the gaps - even when I tell them Santa should know not to give me candy! :grin

:snowman Neither. We're not a religious family and, besides, my dad is Jewish. The only time I went to Church on Xmas Eve was when I was IP. It was a beautiful experience though and if I wasn't on vacation at Xmas I'd go again.

:snowman God no! I'd have to pay people money to suffer my singing :muhaha
Favorite Christmas Carol?
:snowman In The Bleak Mid Winter. I love carols :happy

:snowman No but my parents and I pretend to one another that I do. My mum said that I'd keep getting a stocking as long as I kept believing so I assured her that my faith could never falter :cheesy

:snowman Not sure. Maybe the hamster I got given from my parents when I was little.

:snowman When I was about nine I was obsessed with The Teenage Ninja Turtles and yet, it wasn't until I was fourteen that my grandmother had the bright idea to get me a bunch of Ninja Turtle figurines for Xmas... I didn't have the heart to tell her I'd grown out of them five years previously :sarcasm

:snowman I don't work.

Yes, but only three or four because I'm lazy. I tend to send comical store-bought cards.

:xmas When do you put up the Christmas tree? Whenever... not right after Thanksgiving though. I don't know if my family will have a tree this year, but I'm thinking of getting one for my appt. I'll probably put it up after finals are over.

:xmas Lights? What color? Yes, II'm a big fan of white lights.
:xmas Garland? We don't usually have one I don't think, but I might get a silver one for my tree.

:xmas What's your favorite ornament? I never really had one until last year... my mom bought a set of ornaments before she died, and we found them later. She never had the chance to give them to us, so I guess they're my favorite now.

:xmas Where do you put your tree? In the front room of the house- the living room that we don't really use.
:xmas Who decorates the tree? My mom and brother and I used to... this year it will probably be my brother and sister in law, or we have one in our appt it will be me and my roommate.

:santa When do you start shopping? Whenever... I really detest Christmas shopping. I hate it. I like the idea of getting people presents, but I hate malls and needing to buy presents for ten different family members just to celebrate a religious holiday that's essentially meaningless to most of my family... I feel insincere I guess, going to the mall and Christmas sales or whatever... it's so commercialized and the actual day really means nothing to so many people. I enjoy many of the traditions... the Nutcracker, Christmas movies, gingerbread houses, Christmas carols, spending time with my family, Handel's Messiah... but I could do without the gifts.
:santaARE YOU READY FOR CHRISTMAS? Ready? It's a day... since my mom died family holidays aren't such a big deal to me... sorry to be all depressing. The idea of Christmas is fun... I'm ready for Christmas vacation, snow, New York (especially the city at CHristmas time)... but it also makes me sad.

The Tree

:xmas We usually don't get our tree until the second weekend of December. Otherwise all the needles drop off because Christmas.

:xmas Our tree goes in the corner of our sitting-room. When I was little we used to have a small silver one in our upstairs sitting room too.
