I am wondering if :fishy's want to share the reason for choosing their :fishy name?
Why did you choose your name?

For me, I chose mine because it's my aol name. Okay, so now you wanna know why I chose it as my aol name right?
Well, I had great difficulty find a name. Most of the names I tried were already taken. I didn't want a name with loads of numbers after it. So I took mine and put the :uk bit after it.
It's a bit :sarcasm and tongue in cheek really. I am not an :angel nor am I a barbie! That's just my warped humour!

How about you guys... why your :fishy names?

Interesting post! :muhaha

My name is my three initials plus the three intials of my best friend in the whole world. Both our middle names are Anne by the way.

Not too exciting! I'd love to hear about other :fishy names though - I'm sure they'll have more interesting origins than mine!

My real name is Michele, and my last name before I got married started w/ I. So I put MI twice to get Mimi :cheesy. I always loved the name "Mimi." Its not my real nickname though~people in real time often call me MICH. Anyway, that's my story :cute.

I chose my name because I love the ocean, and I picked the fairy because...well, i'm not sure why...

:hugon Julia :hugoff

Great topic :idea!!

Okay I picked my name for two reasons.

The first reason that I picked my name is because I :love the :stars. I think that :stars are so pretty and pretty nifty. I dunno im weird I guess but ever since I was little I have always :love d :stars stars.

The second reason that I picked my name is because often on crappy days I will often look out my window and do that :starsbright:starslight wish thingy and pray looking out the :stars.

I guess :stars give me an inner peace and a sense of happiness. I dunno. I just have always :loved :stars stars and so thats why I choose my name.

Oh wait, there is a third reason why I picked my name :sarcasm. Well kinda a third reason. I am so :scary d that someone from R/T will find me on this board so I wanted to pick something that was not connceted with my real name. Yeah sure if people know me then they can prolly figure it out but I can always make something up :winky :sarcasm

Well thats my name story. Hope you all enjoyed it. I look forward to :ear hearing :ear about more names.

Whos next????

KAUSAL

I :love these stories so far!! Thanks Julia!!

Rora
09-15-2002, 09:24 AM
My first name is aurorarose, and it is quite a mouthful to say. I don't have nicknames that I use frequently (at my job, everyone calls me Row-Row [like the boat that goes gently down the stream], but its not something that I want the whole population calling me this!!!)

Back in the midst of my eating disorder, I came up with the *brilliant* :sarcasm idea, that if I could somehow shrink my name, I could shrink my body even more successfully.
And thats where 'Rora' came from.

I've asked :sfishy and :mrfishy several times to allow me to change my name, because the orgin of my :fishy name isn't exactly healthy, but they've politely chosen to ignore my e-mails.
Now that I'm in recovery, I'm somewhat embarassed for choosing a name with such 'anorexic' connotations...
But anyway, I've learned to deal with it, I think.

I do ask that everyone who reads this, can please call me aurorarose, and not 'rora' when they call me by name here in the :bowl
Now you know why.

Thank you,
AuroraRose

:hugon AuroraRose :hugoff
Your name is fantastic, where does it come from? I never heard of it before. It is so poetic, artistic, creative and just well, lovely! Is it a "real" rose variety?

It is a bit sad that they wouldn't let you alter your name, seeing as it was "unhealthy" for you :surprise

KAUSAL
09-15-2002, 09:43 AM
Okay, this is my third reply to this post - it is getting out of hand :ummm , but Aurorarose's post reminded me to mention something. When I chose my name, I have no idea why it came up in capitals - I think I had caps lock on. But as dumb as this will sound, the caps makes me feel big and I was wondering if :fishy s could use small case when they are using my 'fishy' name and not my real name. Thank you, I feel dumb asking but it would make me feel a heap better. :gimmehug

chloda
09-15-2002, 09:45 AM
Chloda was my grandma's name, my mother's mother. I picked it because I loved her so much, because she loved me unconditionally, and it makes me happy to think about her. She was always there for me, and she's the only one in my family that isn't screwed up somehow. I have all good memories of our times together, and I hope to be like her.:love

KateyKat
09-15-2002, 10:36 AM
I picked KateyKat cause it makes me smile. It was a child hood nick name. Some of my family member will still call me KateyKat once in awhile.

:hugon :fishjump All :fishy ies :fishjump :hugoff

I :love these stories of how you picked your name!

Ok rainbowswirl, well, I decided to choose it because a rainbow has loads of colours in it, and I assorted each colour to an emotion, like red for anger, and blue for when you are upset, and what you feel every day is like a mixture of them, or a swirl, so rainbowswirl was formed.

Plus it sounds pretty! :muhaha

Taryn
09-15-2002, 01:05 PM
:hugon :bowl :hugoff

What a great post, I've enjoyed reading all the replies so far. I don't really have an exciting story behind mine. I tried loads of names but they had all been used and Taryn was the name of someone I went to school with and I thought it was unusual enough not to have been picked. I suppose I could have used my own name or my RT nickname but I was worried someone might recognise me :ugh . Like so of the other :fishy ies my RT nickname is very short (only two letters) and although I didn't choose it myself, I was given it by my flatmates I guess I like it b/c it is short and all those other anorexic connotations.
Keep the name stories coming :grin

kristieannesmama
09-15-2002, 01:54 PM
Well, I love reading the stories behind our :fishy names! I think my name is self-explanitory LOL! My first child is named KristieAnne...and I'm her Mama...so Kristieannesmama. Sorry it's nothing terribly creative. :sarcasm

Um...I'm glad I picked it because when I feel down, I look at my name and realize who I'm fighting for. Now I have KristieAnne AND Benjamin Alan! I'm fighting for them...and for Laura Christine (me) and David John (my hubby).

Peace!

CocoBean
09-15-2002, 04:33 PM
Well, my name isn't too exciting either. I didn't want to use my real name because i was worried of anyone in RT finding out or even anorexic friends that i'm not sure if ever read on the boards who don't know about my struggles, so i used a nickname. I don't mind if my name is used here occasionally, i just don't sign with it. Last year was my first year in college and somehow i got stuck with the nickname Bean... long story. It really took off when some big mix up happened when some guys thought it was another girl nicknamed Bean and when they figured it out they were obsessed with sending me stuff that said Bean is good... don't ask it would take forever to explain :supergrin. At first the name was coco bean, and i wanted a longer name than bean on the boards and i know a lot of people have a nickname bean, so i used the whole thing. Now that i'm out of the dorms the nickname is getting dropped, so now it'll be my SF nickname. It actually has a lot of happy memories attached to it from the dorms and the great and supportive friends i made there.

Great post!!! It's soo cool to find out how people picked their name, I've always wondered.
I picked Caringbear b/c Care Bear was taken and that is what most people call me. My real name is Carrie. So I chose Caringbear b/c...well I don't know, it was the only thing that I could think of that was almost like Care Bear.

:love I got my name, DancingPrincess, because I am a dancer and my daddy calls me his princess :love

Companion
09-15-2002, 11:11 PM
i wanted my name to be appealing and safe for others. i wanted others to trust me and to feel that they could come to me for help. i wanted others to know i'd be there by their side through all this - good times and bad. i looked up "helper" in the thesaurus and "companion" stuck out to me. it seemed friendly and inviting - and not so therputic. thats all.

tiger cub
09-16-2002, 01:54 AM
i chose tiger cub b/c that's my favorite animal.....they are soooo cute and adorable and playful and cuddly and it reminds me of how i was when i was a little girl (before my ed)

carnelian
09-16-2002, 04:09 AM
Hi fishies,

I chose Carnelian because it is the name of my T's business and she is the only person associated with anorexia that I've ever met. (The supports in my town are all just for teens and I'm far from that now, so I have to get private help.) She's promised to be there for me no matter what.

More importantly , she gives each of her clients a carnelian stone as a sign of good body image and health. I carry mine always and it reminds me it's oK to eat.

Love Carnelian

hmmm well mines not really that exciting my R/T name is Georgina and I did used to hate it when I was little so I only ever got called gina or 'g' to my close freinds and family but now I would have loved to be called georgie so thats why I chose georgie girl plus I was thinking at the time I chose it Gina has always been anorexic were as Georgie hasnt I guess I was hoping for recovery if I changed my name :sad oh and of course coz Im a girl :winky

Penny Lane
09-16-2002, 09:14 AM
:starsFantastic Post:stars

I'm completely obsessed with "Almost Famous." For those of you who've seen it, you all know that Penny Lane is the name of Kate Hudson's character. I'd kill to be her...the actress or the band aid. sigh....

Penny Lane could have been something to do with the Beatles! :supergrin!

macgirl
09-16-2002, 10:26 AM
I chose the name "macgirl" because I'm a geek. The Macintosh computer was the first computer that was really mine.

I even have a shirt that I call my "macgirl" shirt (it has an Apple (http://www.apple.com/) on it :happy).

Now I have an office full of Macs and I'm spreading the word how much I :love Macs and my iPod (http://www.apple.com/ipod/)iPod. :supergrin

I am originally from Coventry in England, and the town is very famous for it's "three spires", hence my name.

lima
09-16-2002, 11:04 AM
:cool post!

When I was in college and really into the anorexia, I had my safe food phases. I went through a damn lima bean phase and that's how I got Lima. I cannot even eat those damn beans anymore b/c I got so sick of them :cheesy but I :love any other kind of beans :grin.

Little Fishy
09-16-2002, 11:27 AM
I chose "Little Fishy" because I'm short.

Hmm....i've always wondered the stories behind these names.

The week i joined here, i had just finished a lecture comparing Picasso's and Matisse's works. Its an interesting study (both artist's i love, but i'll spare you all the art history lesson :supergrin). I actually prefer Matisse's work because his whole philosophy centered around finding joy within dire circumstances, whereas Picasso was much more pessimistic and negative (okay, i said i'd spare you, so i better shut up).

When it came down to signing up, i thought Picasso's name had more of a flare for a screen name. So in it went. (i am an aritst and freelance teacher/lecturer, with a passion for art history).

"Steficia" (pronounced sh-ta-FEETs-a) is my name, Stephanie, In Yugoslav.
I'm not Yugoslavian (although I have been there), but right before I got my aol account years ago, I worked at Disney, and worked with a dancer there with my same name. She was Yugoslavian, and told me what our name was.

Does anyone know why this site took on the whole "FISH" theme in the first place?
Like... why fish?
Why not some other animals / insects / plants / veg, etc?
Why FISHYS???
Anyone know?
Does it tell you on the main site?
You doen't automatically think about fish when you think about ED's do you! :sarcasm

Good questions about the :fishy ! I wonder?

Well my name isn't anything much not real creative--as a kid I was forever trying to change my name, the spelling, I wanted to be Theresa or Stacy which are both kinda related to my real name so Stacy is my name here and the C is the inital of my maiden name therefore StacyC.

LiveOutLoud

I chose LiveOutLoud b/c it is the opposite of what I feel like dong sometimes. I feel like putting on the smile mask and hiding, but I want to be healthy and live out loud!

Jezebel
09-21-2002, 01:53 PM
Jezebel

...it's the nickname that I received as a young girl. Jezebel is a very malicious and evil person in the Bible. So my grandma and my "second mom" (my mom's identical twin sister :sarcasm) gave me the nickname as a joke. When I was really young, I would have periods of being the sweetest, kindest, most lovable and caring little :angel you could ever imagine, but I could also be a little devil at times, too! :winky So my nickname is just a family thing for me. The name stuck...even to this day, my grandma and my aunt call me Jezebel everytime they see me! :cute And I'm twenty!

I love the stories!!

Awesome post! I had to bump it up to the top.

Charli has been a nickname since I was a little kid. It's short for Charlotte Leslie.

I use it more on-line than in R/T 'cause of the teasing I used to get. Put Charli with my last name and you end up with a seventies tv-show and a recent movie. Figure that one out!

In answer to the question about "why fish?" i think i read something somewhere (maybe in amy's signature) about the fish being representative of thoughts swimming in our sub-consciousness. Someone double check me on that one!

Great names!

Yenevoc is an anagram of my last name. My Gran used to sometimes answer the phone as Mrs Yenevoc if she didn't want to take the call. If someone challenged her she'd say she was having a mixed up sort of day !:grin She died about a year before I joined the board :sad so I partly chose it to feel close to her still.

I had a vague idea that the :fishy conection had to do with scales only being for fish but I may have dreamt that.

:smokin Idea for a post! I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts and the reasons you chose your names. My story really isn't that interesting. I love X-Files. In fact I am obsessed w/ it. I have all the available seasons on DVD and I watch it all the time. If you're a :yayfan of the show you'll know that Scully's father used to call her Starbuck and she used to call him Ahab after the Captain from Moby Dick. meaghan
10-30-2002, 01:27 AM
ok, ok, I think I have just about the most un-original :fishy name here, but there IS a story behind it (might be kinda boring:sarcasm)....

My RT name is Meaghan, hence the :fishy name meaghan. Duh. However, I was first introduced to this site back in ninety-seven when I was IP.....One of the nurses there brought in a bunch of stuff she had printed out from this website; some of them were actual worksheets I had to complete, and some were just inspirational messages. Anywho, I continued on bouncing in and out of IP, never having access to the Internet because my father lives in the Stone Age (:cheesy....although my sis and I DO keep him well-dressed, no more of those wacko blue leisure suits from the seventies.....yeesh, those were bad!!!), but everywhere I went IP, someone always mentioned this site.

THEN I found out my sis was coming here quite frequently to get support as she was a sibling of someone suffering from anorexia.....She said it was pretty helpful for her. ANYWAY, I was so so so excited when I found this site when I actually got access to the Internet (in college) that I started coming pretty often to check it out, mainly the Memorial Wall because sadly, ppl I had known from treatment just kept emerging as candles :sad. When I finally figured out this whole bulletin board thing (believe me, it took awhile, I'm blonde AND computer-challenged :cheesy).....I signed up with my name because I thought I'd run into some ppl I knew from treatment and I wanted to make sure they recognized me!!! The spelling of my name is fairly unique, so I typed it in and found out no one else had used it yet, so *shrug* here I am.

Now that I have been in the :bowl for awhile, I have often thought about changing my name to protect my identity. But I also kinda think it's important for me to be able to stand up and say my name, because for a long time I couldn't do that.

I do not trust other places on the Internet at all though and usually use the name UrbnGrl followed by some random numbers because I am SUCH a city girl at heart :winky.

Wow, that was a long story! Hehe, hope I didn't put anyone to sleep!!!

my nickname in RT is angel, and "babyangel" is what my boyfriend calls me when i'm feeling small and fragile.

i have other screen names on other sites which are very "tough" and represent the harder side of me.....which is what most people see......but when i came to sign up here, i wanted something that reminded me of why i was trying to getting better in the first place, and that it was OK to be vulnerable sometimes.

thanks for all your stories....

Fishy Sam
11-02-2002, 12:22 AM
Hey!

I'm a new :fishy to the :bowl and although I have yet to formally introduce myself I could not resist replying to such a fantastic post! What a great idea AngelBarbie!

Anyway, my name is rather boring and self-explanitory - Fishy cause that's what I am here and Sam cause that's my name (well not entirely, it's actually Samantha)

After reading some of the replies I have realised the real, ana reason for liking Sam and not the 'big' version of my name... It had never occured to me before!

Wow! I haven't been here long at all but I've learnt something already!

Oh, and to the question on the sites name, I thought it had something to do with that old saying 'something fishy', I like the idea about the scales though.

Looking forward to getting to know you all,

Sam :aussie

~*~aLoHa~*~

i chose my name because i liked the double meaning. after reading everyone else's explainations, i have analyzed my name even more.
i chose flipping out because i love gymnastics, and i like to flip around a lot.
OR
i chose flipping out because i feel like i am always flipping out (mentally) if its not one problem its another.
so i kind of feel bad about the negative connotation to my name.

i also thought it was pretty interesting how several people pointed out that they prefered shortened versions of their names. i have always prefered that also, but never realized that it might be because of the "size"

amber
11-02-2002, 12:39 PM
well, i'm hardly new around here, just very quiet. i've been around since ninety-six or ninety-seven. something like that anyway, ususally as ciarra. when i had to reregister here i used the name amber instead, not as in the name, but the stone. when i was suffering the most, a good friend bought me an amber necklace and told me that whenever i was feeling down or low, or when i was scared or hurting, to take all those emotions, and tell it to the stone and to put my feelings into it. to me, amber represents, not only all of the bad and negative emotions that i feel, but a way of coping and letting them out instead of bottling it all up inside. it's a small step, but a step in the right direction. so i chose to use the name amber because because i have always been honest and open with my amber necklace, and i would like to start being more honest and open with myself, and with others.

Umbers
11-02-2002, 07:13 PM
When we first got a computer and I started playing Quake I was trying to think of a handle, and my boyfriend suggested Umberlee and the name kind of just stuck. It's the name of a character in a series of fantasy books who's often referred to as the bitch queen. Umbers is the most commonly used abbreviation of the name, so that's what I registered here as. :happy

Well, I am new here & this post is excellent for newbies ~ I feel like I know each of you in a way now. This is a great idea ~

I had a horrible thing happen to me :ugh at work & it is posted in the "not specified" section. This site is so big, I didn't know where to go. What happened triggered all my disorders, especially my not eating... but, on the good side, it's what helped me be diagnosed & stop hiding it :boink ... so that is a good thing. :balloons

Anyway, I've always been into the wiccan way of life. I love the moon, especially the full moon. I can feel it's power -- it's "magick". :wand I love to light candles & meditate when the moon is full (other times, too, but I can feel it so much more on the full moon).

There were nights I cried :cry to the moon for help (you guys might think I'm nuts, but it helped me feel better).

So, therefore, MoonMagick :wand was the perfect name for me :supergrin

For everyone else, I'll explain. I'm a huge X-Files fan, of the show, characters, and the main actors! Anyway, one of my good friends in high school was also a fan, so we combined the names because we liked both of them equally, lol... so she became Sculder and me Mully (Mu for Mulder, ully for Scully). Yeah, so that's about it! :yay

Thought I would revive this post, so that any new :fishys can share with us why they chose their :fishy name........

afallenangel
06-08-2003, 09:31 AM
Great post. Ok now I have to think of how to put into words why I choose my name.

Ok I chose Afallen:angel because I feel that I had fallen from my myself and into the Eating disorder, and I have also slipped from other things in my life, so know I am trying to climb back up from where I have fallen and get my life back

Sorry if this doesn't make sense but it's hard to describe in words why I chose the name. But just for the record I am far from being an :angel :muhaha

girl friday
06-08-2003, 12:56 PM
Wow! Great post! :happy

My name was a joke, I was thinking of a nickname as did not want to use real one, and thought of 'Man Friday' - was he Robinson Crusoe's friend???? I think so - but I am not a man :yay so thought would insert 'girl'. Also there is a program on the TV with Joanna Lumley (:uk actress) on it... she survives on a desert island for a while on her own :grin and I like her.

Dumb really!

Talihar
06-08-2003, 02:30 PM
Fun thread! "Talihar" is the combination of my two cats' names. Unfortunately only one of them is still with me now -- the other crossed over the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. So this is my way of keeping them both with me.

LsMzSkater
06-08-2003, 06:52 PM
LsMz: Les Misérables, Les Miz...I've always liked musicals and I happened to sign up for the board during my period of Les Mis obsessing.

Skater: No subliminal messages or symbolism here. I'm an ice skater.

Herego, LsMzSkater.

I've thought about requesting to change it as musicals aren't something I identify with myself as strongly anymore and skating is something I'd like not to identify myself with so strongly anymore, so I feel a little detached from the name, but it works. It's grown on me.

interesting topic

matrix describes the captivity in which i have lived, namely, the anorexia and the distorted, upside-down way i look at myself and the world my mind is trapped 'in a matrix' of un-reality.

hope that makes sense.

oh, my! So much memories. I read through the entire thread and was surprise to see mine as I was about to post why I choose my name. I was so happy to see my post still there.

06-09-2003, 02:18 PM
:wacky Well, easy really, it comes from my favourite band - The Manic Street Preachers (well, used to be my fav). :igotit
A lot fo people think it's because of Manic Depression, but that's not the reason.

:flower Nice to see this thread revived!

rowgirl
06-10-2003, 02:24 AM
Well my name used to be rubygirl, which was my AOL screenname. I chose that because Ruby's Diner (not Ruby Tuesdays) was my favorite restaurant at the time, and girl because well, I'm a girl :muhaha

I have since changed to Rowgirl. The row is because I am completely in love with crew and I just kept the girl because it reminded me of rubygirl, which is still my AIM screen name.

The Rescuer
06-10-2003, 09:28 AM
I picked my name for obvious connotations..... :winky but also at the time I was listening to an album called Being There by Wilco and I really loved the song Misunderstood... so that was an influence.

Cathie
06-15-2003, 01:01 PM
Well my reason is really kinda boring.

My first name is Catherine, and for a long time I hated being called Cathy, so I figured when I signed up it was a good name to call myself, because no one would ever think of me as a Cathy. I changed it to Cathie because I have other friends who are called Cathy (confused yet? :sarcasm) and wanted to be a bit different.

Now though, um, it's kinda stuck. Lol, my T has called me Cathie as long as she's known me but only found out how it was spelt a couple of weeks ago, lol. So .. yeah, not so inconspicuous now!!

SimplySparkle
06-17-2003, 12:33 PM
I chose the name SimplySparkle because I like the word Sparkle, and just the word Sparkle seemed too plain, and I hate being plain, so I put Simply, which in itself sort of contridicts my last statement. And I wanted something to do with horses[my love], but I just oculdn't motivate my brain to think of something cool enough...

mothtoaflame
11-04-2005, 06:38 AM
One of my favourite tv show's is CSI, and I am a big Grissom/Sara Shipper - anyhow, there is an episode in season **** where they have a lil moment, and there is a gorgeous song playing called 'Unbound' by Robbie Robertson. Mothtoaflame came from the lyrics of that song!

Tiffy
11-04-2005, 07:02 PM
I chose mine because it's my yahoo screen name that I had when I was younger. I don't know what stood out about it except I was obsessed with cherries and I thought kisses was a nice thing to add in along with all the stupid x's. I wish I could go back and make a different name for myself because I feel really stupid having so many x's in my fishy name. It just goes to show that I grew up since then and my taste in things have changed a lot. =)

Interesting post, by the way. -Tiffany

MegaVictory
11-04-2005, 07:07 PM
"MegaVictory" after my daughter, Megan Victoria, which was a great victory, because I had her at age forty.

Kiyara
11-05-2005, 11:35 PM
I always wanted to start a post about this, but it looks like there already is one! :sarcasm

I'm writing a novel -- as stupid and cliched as it sounds......but I am serious....this has been a three year project so far...

Kiyara is a character from the story....A girl who struggles to be accepted (also cliched) and turns to "darkness" as a last resort. The story's a fantasy story though...lol. I thought it kind of mirrored my own struggle symbolically.

Well, thats the story of my name, and I'm really happy with my fishy name!

(cause its a fantasy like name, I also end each post with dragons surrounded my name! :happy )

:dragon Kiyara :dragon

journeygirl
11-06-2005, 03:05 PM
Ok, so mine is pretty easy to explain...

Recovery is a journey right? And I'm a girl on that journey...so...journeygirl...

I've been asked if it has to do anything with the band - it doesn't..but back in the day I did LOVE the band....lol, gotto love the ********'s.
Most of the fishies here call me jg for short...i love my name.

Shuffleboard Queen
11-06-2005, 05:19 PM
My name came from a song that was a favorite of my roommate and I, called (you guessed it) "The Shuffleboard Queens." It's about a friendship that is almost lost, and the two girls become friends again in old age and are dubbed the Shuffleboard Queens.

So that's the story. I would choose something different now, but I do kinda like my name. And the song!

sprecato_vita
11-07-2005, 03:22 AM
My name often gets :confused with absurd :muhaha

But it's based off the school I want to attend, and my major.

O - Oregon
S - State
U - University
R - Registered
D - Dietician

I have another screen name on a different site, fighting for life. I absolutely :love that name. I wish everything of mine said that.

nightstalker
11-07-2005, 03:32 AM
:hairy God, I feel like such a clod...here you all have these wonderful names and I sit here with Nightstalker. However, there is a good explanation. It reminds of my past and where I have come from. No, I was not a stalker :cheesy However, I was not a good person. All that has changed, but I feel, if we forget our past...rather than embracing it, we are doomed to repeat it.

For a much easier explanation, it is one in the morning and I am just getting revved up. So I guess the name fits either way. I like to 'stalk' around in the night...mainly because it is more peaceful.

OK, now that I feel like a total clod...there you have it. I kinda wonder why I did not go with my other nic...Maverick...it sounds so much more romantic. :sly

pastortwobe
11-15-2005, 11:26 AM
:yay I love this post ... I often get asked about my name when I go into the chat (which is very rarely nowadays).

Anyway, when I joined the :bowl I was in a Masters of Divinity program studing to be a minister. So I am a "pastor-to-be"

But, there's more!! My friends called me "pastor-bacon-bits" so there were "two b's" so I made a silly play on words and came up with
pastortwobe

Unfortunately, I got sick over and over with my BiPolar and ED :ugh and only finished five classes toward my masters. I was a student pastor for two summers and a semester. I still preach occasionally at the church I currently attend and help out a lot with the kids. I still hope to someday become a minister but now my life revolves around taking care of my eight-month-old-son.

I've thought about changing my name on the :bowl -- especially recently -- but people know me as pastortwobe and that is still a part of my life -- so I guess I'll just keep it.

11-15-2005, 08:33 PM
I chose my name because I am obsessed with Angels. A friend of mine always called me Angel and then ir just kidna came out of that cause I always said that there was nothing special about me....so I was Just Another Angel...

Iratxe
11-21-2005, 10:03 AM
I went to Spain for a month when I was in high school, and met this awesome girl named Iratxe pronnounced Idaa che (I think....even though I'm an English major, phonics has never my strong point :sarcasm). She made a great impression on me because her personality was bold and unique....like her name. When I returned to the States, I pretty much took her name as my own for my AOL and yahoo accounts. In a way, it helps me remember her, even though it's been years since we talked. Plus I have never seen it used by anyone else, so I think it gives me a sense of individuality while dabbling in the online world.

Kaspa
01-03-2006, 06:18 AM
It's cool to read how everyone got their names!

I am Kaspa because it was the name of the performing arts society where I went to university and everyone thought that I was doing performing arts because i'm such a drama queen!
I used to be King Lizard on here about two years before I registered as Kaspa but I only used chats and didn't post way back then!

Static
01-04-2006, 06:44 PM
Lovely thread you've started here....

Static is my net handle basically everywhere, and it's become an alternate persona of sorts. Its usually 'RandomStatic', which I just recently realized is an oxymoron (Random, which is something which is sporatic and unpredictable, and Static, which in some contexts is something which is unchanging and still). For some odd reason, I dropped the first half when I joined this site...
wootness.

My name comes from a song from one of my favourite bands, ten cc. The song is called "I'm not in love" and it's a beautiful great fantastic song and I highly recommend it.

Also it fits that I'm actually not in love, at the moment, and don't think I'll ever be!
