Okay, this is a really trivial topic, but I just wondered what people think of the "trend" to have the top of a woman's thong showing about her pants/dress. Personally I think it's really gross, but I'm not exactly a trend-setter, so maybe I'm just an old stick-in-the-mud - I wanna know what you think! (I find thongs too uncomfortable anyway! I know, I know, panty lines....but I'd rather have panty lines than a permanent wedgie!)
Now I feel silly for starting a silly topic - oh well!

Hey Dreya,
I didn't know it was a trend! I have seen some women like that & just thought they were inadvertently looking trashy & didn't know it! :spinny

I think it depends how comfortable someone is with there body....i say if their comfortable showing their thong than okay...i wish i could be confident to do that...i wear thongs depending on what type of mood i'm in but could never show that i am...unless it is too my fiance but he is the only one seeing...

While I have never seen anyone walking around like that, I am aware of the trend, and I find it very revolting. I won't even wear a thong under my pants, let alone having it exposed.

I had no ides this was a trend!! Just thought they had forgotten to look in the mirror! :muhaha
Personally, I always wear thongs, but HATE them showing - sometimes I even pin my trouders to them, so they don't 'ride up'!!!!
I have to agree with Kensington & Manic: didn't know it was a trend but thought they looked trashy without looking in the mirror! :surprise Maybe I'm just getting old, but I don't like many of the fashion trends these days.

For those who feel old for not liking it, I'm nineteen & I thought, like several others, that they simply hadn't looked in the mirror when they were leaving the house. I mean, I love my thongs, but I don't want the world to know if I'm wearing one or not! Just a teen's view on it.
Much :love,

It's kinda like when you have to call the plummer over to fix your sink, down and under he goes....with him goes his pants, and unders. And then you see it.
Butt crack.
Maybe it is "sorta" sexy on the right woman? Do guys go for this? I don't know. I think tho a woman is more sexy in something somewhat revealing. If you show everything, hell there is no mystery left!

before I start posting about the miners I guess let me indulge myself......
Ok--thongs showing. The most memorable one in my mind is when I went to this gay club and there was this 'man' wearing his thong way way up higher than his pants---and then he wanted to know why I seemed uncomfortable dancing with 'him'. Every time I see some silly assed sweet young thing sporting this--I think of that 'man' and his hideous hot pink thong.
As for reverse cleavage---I guess when you are Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lopez--even your buttcrack is sexy. I suppose if I ever got me arse to look show quality, I'd wear my backline that low, until then--I look like the proverbial plumber, minus the hair.
Oh yeah--I guess I understand thongs if you want to impress the menfishies, but if it's for the sake of pantylines--I choose going commando over butt floss any day!!!

well people i think we're just gonna have to agree to disagree here :winky
i mean, wat is the point of owning a red velvet thong, or a purple lace thong, or a wine red&black thong, or a pink thong, or, erm...hell they're my best ones :sarcasm if nobody's gonnna see them?
now, don't get me wrong, i don't like the back bit showing, but a half-inch of top-class thong, and then a wide old belt and some low-rise trousers round the front, and i'm set for the night. or the day :ummm
then again, i have a total underwear obsession and am often found showing people my bra in public (it's not my fault, i've got one with a spider embroidered on it...which reminds me, the thong that goes with that has one too. and it's a spiderweb fabric. mesh :sly )
much :love *hugs* and :clover

i don't have a "philosophical" problem with any part of any woman's body showing - i may not sport a look myself but i am not one to criticize anyone (esp. since seeing such criticism around me all the time played into my body image issues throughout my life)
aesthetically though i don't find it an appealing or sexy look. i think having the thong/panty line showing above low pants is okay on the sides or towards the front of the pants (you know a little peekaboo on one side maybe) but the whole T shape of the thong visible on the back just does not look good to me... something about the lines...
i also just asked my bf, he said "it looks stupid"...
a.
The only person to see my underwear, is myself...
And my boyfriend, should we have a... umm.. intimate moment :winky
As for thongs, Victoria's Secret makes some really great ones, and I'll wear them if I have clothes where a panty-line would show.
But I don't find it incredibly fashionable in my opinion, to have one's undergarments popping through...
Somewhat akin to a person's slip showing.
Although, I do believe each person has a right to dress as they find appealing :bounce

I know that this post was from last year but I was IP at the time it was originally posted and I've only just come across it now. I don't know if any :fishy has mentioned them in this post but I've only just noticed them in catalogues...hipster thongs for hipster jeans/trousers and low waisted clothing! I don't know how long retailers have been selling hipster thongs but I've only just noticed them myself!
I personally think it can look great on some people - but many those who wear big baggy low slung pants and on whom it looks natural.
I personally can't manage to carry it off - just seems to be something about my shape (possibly the wide waist/narrow hips). But if I could I would.
Then again I go commando pretty much all the time anyhow so I always feel a bit self conscious in knickers. Funerals, gyn appointments and intimate encounters are the only occasions I raid the knicker drawer!
It looks as though they forgot to pull up their pants before they left the house:sarcasm
You wouldn't walk around showing your regular underwear would you?
So why show off a thong?
You'd never catch me wearing one, i'd be pulling it out of my arse all day!:muhaha

Not my idea of fashion, but neither is any trend showing undies. I've never worn a thong and not gotten a wedgy, I can't figure out why some women think they're comfortable.

I think it looks trashy. Bra straps don't bother me though for some reason, sometimes I purposely wear a bright colored bra with a black tank top or something...I just like how it looks.
Some women find them more comfortable, but personally I don't. I feel like I have a permenant wedgie when I wear one :ugh
As for having them showing over clothes, I don't get the fasion myself, although on some women it can look very sexy...

I think people just dont realize it is showing if your pants are already kind of low, it just happens.
I think a celeb wore their thong like that, then all of a sudden little pre teens thinks it's cool.
I personally don't find it that appealing......

I absolutely love wearing thongs but think that wearing them above your pants is totally horendous.
I used to think thongs were uncomfortable too...but they sort of started growing on me and now that's all I will wear. Now, regular underwear is uncomfortable!

I don't think its cool at all. I like to look cute and classy at the same time. You can't be classy and have your thong show... :dragon

I think it's ok to be able to see the top of them if they're pretty - you can often see the top of my knickers - but i HATE IT when you can see peoples bum / legs under their thong - urgh I think thats just going to far!!

I thought reverse cleavage was something completely different...like when Christina Aguilera wore that famous shirt a few years ago, the shirt that was barely even there. Rather than having regular cleavage, her boobs stuck out a bit at the bottom and she called it reverse cleavage.
My opinion on that? Thumbs DOWN:sarcasm.
About the thongs, I don't like how it looks when they stick above people's pants, but I understand that sometimes it's actually really hard to keep them from coming up above low-rise pants. I try not to judge, LoL. To each his own, I guess, right?
