Sorry I've been posting so much lately. . .

I rented this movie "Shallow Hal" with my good friend tonight. It was totally trigerring, talking about weight and society's expectations etc. It just upset me and made me want to b/p. (I'm binging as I write this. Damn it.) I told my friend I didn't want to watch the movie anymore before it was all the way over and she got annoyed and went home. She doesn't know about my ED so she doesn't understand why I didn't want to stay.
So, now I'm upset about the movie. I'm upset that I let myself watch the movie. I'm upset that I made my friend mad. And, I'm upset because I'm binging now. Sigh.

don't let this slip make you feel like there's no point in trying. you can keep fighting! you had the strength to say no to the movie :yay and that's a very good thing! maybe, if you feel comfortable, you could explain to your friend why you refused to watch the movie with her. it may help her to understand and not be so mad. plus, in my opinion, she shouldn't stay mad for long since it's not like you gravely insulted her or anything. so don't beat yourself up because she got mad! it was her choice to stomp out like that. YOU did not make her mad. IT WAS HER CHOICE TO REACT THAT WAY. try to remember that. tomorrows a new day, make a deal with yourself to treat yourself better. you deserve it, especially after using your voice! :yay :yay :yay i'm very proud of you for making that step. keep :kicking! :edbgone

Hello, how are you? My name is Juliana, I am eighteen years old and I am colombian. Glad and pleased to meet ya!
Well, I just want to say that I completely understand being triggered by certain movies.
I haven't seen "Shallow Hal", but I know what is it like to feel triggered by movies. What I usually do, though is go to sleep...(mostly I see movies at night)...if it is during the day, then I call someone safe or come online.
Hon, keep working because I know you have it in you to keep on fighting!!
:bug About your friend, well....you know that she doesn't know bout your ed, so it's ok that she gets mad. If she knew, then I am sure that she would understand. Keep me posted on you!!!!

All My Love,
Jules

I didn't watch that movie because I knew it would make me very angry. It's supposedly about seeing inner beauty, but it seems that's at least partly an excuse for cheap jokes about overweight people. As if there isn't enough of that going on already.
I'm sorry you were upset - I hope you're feeling better today.

love, dreya :pinkfishy

I understand what you are saying about triggering movies! I used to record ED movies to purposely trigger myself (when I was really sick). I actually saw Shallow Hal, and I really enjoyed it. There were a couple of parts that made me a little tiffed, but for the most part I think that the movie really had a great point to it - and I really enjoyed watching it, I enjoyed the point that they were getting accross, and I came away feeling better about myself after watching the movie.

Everyone has different triggers I guess.
Just wanted to share my perspective.
Hope you don't mind.

Brightest Blessings,
