Pray for the return of Elizabeth Smart

Hi:fishy! I just wanted to ask everyone to say a prayer for the safe return of Elizabeth Smart. I am not from Salt Lake City, or the :usa for that matter. I am from :canada, but I have been watching the coverage on CNN since the day this beautiful, young girl was abducted. I pity the family and especially the younger sister who saw everything. I only wonder is Elizabeth still alive. There are so many children abducted every day, and I think we should pray for the families of these missing children. While watching this case though, I keep wondering about the Jon Benet Ramsey case(?spelling)Do any :fishy have any thoughts about this? Do you think Elizabeth's parents had anything to do with this? Why would Ed Smart have given Richard Ricci a jeep in turn for handywork? I don't know. What do you think?

I am so worried for Elizabeth's family! I don't think her parents had anything to do with this. I think it was the handyman. I have no idea why he would get a vehicle for work done, except that maybe he had none at the time, or that was what he wanted??? My husband thinks she is deceased. I wonder. I feel awful for her and her family and continue to pray for her safe return. Followed immediatly by, "if she is deceased, allow them to find her body and get peace." I hope she is found. :love

It is always such a tragedy when a child disappears. I hope the young lady is found soon.

I would be interested to hear people's opinions about whether the great amount of media attention on this case has anything to do with the fact that Elizabeth (like JonBenet) is a pretty blond girl. Would she be in the news as much as she has been if she were an unattractive person? Is she on the news so much because her pictures are nice to show on the news? I have heard that suggestion made several times and wondered what you guys think.

I agree with you. I think that the fact that Elizabeth is such a beautiful girl who seemed to be popular and involved in a lot of activities does have an influence on media attention. I also think the fact that her parents has tons of money might also play a role in the attention from the media. Sometimes, I wonder did this little girl really run away because she may have been under a lot of pressure to do well. Some children are pushed to the limit whereby they have to excel in school, sports, extracurricular activities, as well as be popular with friends and family. Maybe poor Elizabeth just couldn't take it anymore. But, when I look at the facts of the case and the fact that her sister had seen the man take Elizabeth, I know this is not what happened. But, maybe, if she is still alive, she might be somewhat relieved from the pressures that her parents might have placed on her along with her desire for attention in a seemingly well-to-do and competitive household of four children.
