I've really been working on my mental filter these days. I've really made some good strides towards eliminating the behavior (b/p).
So....now I'm trying to improve the nature of my thoughts. Kind of like a clean-up process and reprogramming of my gray matter.
So much of my thinking was habitual....just repeats of things that did or didn't work in my past. I see so much of it as distortion now. All or nothing thinking and it really "sapped" my motivation in the beginning of recoverING in April. A monumental wall.

If you really stop and think about it....it's wild.... to realize the extent to which our minds influence our experiences. Just about every thought and word that comes out of our mouth is a reflection of our mental attitude.
And that is why it's not so much the events or "stuff" that happens to us.....as it is the way we interpret the circumstances.

So there's a lot of truth to that saying, "Think Lovely thoughts":love and choose your words carefully cause they have such power! All of it takes practice of course.....but will you join me in persistently, consistently trying to re-PHRASE the negative thoughts in our minds to POSITIVE ones?

I always say...if you look hard enough, you can find a positive in most situations that otherwise seem negative...

Re-structuring your thoughts allows you to see things from a diffeent point of view...and in this case...a positive one :happy

It is useful to quiet the mind so that we can think with clarity. Mental phenomena is just that; mental phenomena. It is often not reality at all! Our perceptions and views of ourselves are often so distorted. We give insignificant matters much greater weight (pun intended) than they actually have. By stilling ourselves we take a first step towards clarity.

Re-structuring
I like that! Have you ever read that book...How to win friends and influence people? by Dale Carnegie? I just love his attitude. He talks about...it isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you're doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It's what YOU think about it. Just like Shakespear said, "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
Something I'm constantly having to remind myself of. :happy

Boy....that was a simple yet complex paragraph of truth! :grin Listening to the still small voice is often a challenge, but so worth it. Seems like I always recognize that after the fact.
