:bowl,

Was at my therapist yesterday. She gave me this list; thought I'd pass a few liners along:

:stars Appreciate all that your body CAN do. Every day your body carries you closer to your dreams. Celebrate all of the amazing things your body does for you -- running, dancing, breathing, laughing, dreaming....

:stars Keep a top-ten list of things you like about yourself--things that aren't related to how much you weigh or what you look like. Read your list often. Add to it as you become aware of more things to like about you.

:stars Remind yourself that "true beauty" is not simply skin-deep. When you feel good about yourself and who you are, you carry yourself with a sense of confidence, self-acceptance, and openness that makes you beautiful regardless of whether you physically look like a supermodel. Beauty is a state of mind, not a state of your body.

:stars Shut down those voices in your head that tell you your body is not "right" or that you are a "bad" person. You can overpower those negative thoughts with positive ones. The next time you start to tear yourself down, build yourself back up with a few quick affirmations that work for you.

:stars Wear clothes that are comfortable and that make you feel good about your body. Work with your body, not against it.

:stars Do something nice for yourself--something that lets your body know you appreciate it. Take a bubble bath, make time for a nap, find a peaceful place outside to relax, etc...

:stars Use the time and energy that you might have spent worrying about food, calories, and your weight to do something to help others. Sometimes reaching out to other people can help YOU feel better about yourself and can make a positive change in the world.

There are others, but you get the idea!!

One list cannot automatically tell you how to turn negative body thoughts into positive body image, but it can help you think about new ways of looking more heathfully at yourself and your body. The more you do that, the more likely you are to feel good about who you are and the body you natrually have :supergrin !!

Have a super fantastic day, :fishy !!!!

These are great suggestions. I am going to write the ten best things I like about myself in my journal.
It is weird...I have never kept a journal in my entire life. Now I actually enjoy sitting down every day or every other day and writing about my thoughts and fears. I can see the change in my attitude through my writing.
:bounceAre you keeping a journal?

:bounceI have my therapist appointment today too. She was out of town last week (and so was I) so I have a billion things I want to tell her.

:bounceLast night I went to the EDA meeting (eating disorders anonymous). I was so scared. But they turned out to be incredible people. I can't wait to go again tomorrow! Is there an EDA in your area? You can look online for it. If not...you could always start one.

:bugYep, we really do need help! I think it is great that we can actually laugh at our silly ed habits. At least we can see the humor in it. I think about those old black and white movies that go really fast. I try to imagine if one day out of my life was turned into the movie. I mean, could you imagine....me getting up really fast, showering, doing whatever, trying on clothes, bingeing/purging, picking at my face, trying on clothes again. Oh man! It would really be hilarious.

Ok...Not that eds are a laughing matter...but it feels good to smile anyways.

I gotta go write up the meal plan for you now. Talk to you soon:boink

Thanks so much for sharing that - that was so kind of you! Your therapist sounds really cool!

My therapist prays for me aloud, we kind of say it together - it is really positive at the end of every session and he reminds me of the good qualities I have in myself - it is so important- those little things can make a big difference!

:hugon:kiss CK :bounce:hugoff That is such a cool website! Thank you for sharing CK!

i hope you find journaling really good! I have put fun stickers all over mine and used different color pens and written down anything from just random thoughts or quotes or affirmations - they can be so great - and YOUR place to call YOUR OWN!!! I have a few different ones by now and I am trying to get myself into journaling more than I do - it can help keep me positive!

Great points!! i will do that too. That's what we all need,. when we appreciate who we are, we can appreciate our body. Do you realize how many energy we waste, thinking about food? Do you realize that we are wasting our lives? So instead of thinking about food, wasting my energy out there, I will waste my energy going out with my friends, meditating, doing strech classm, doing something good to myself!!
:sun Another point is, wear CLOTHES that you feel confortable with, not because someone else, like, TRUST yourslef, TRUST your taste!!

Take care GIRL!!!

All those things you listed are GREAT for staying positive. :grin
Cause it's so easy to look around and notice what's always WRONG. I've lived around negativity for years. You can get real skilled when you're always looking for the negative in people/situations. When I feel negative it always empowers the problem. It literally sabotages and destroys. Negative thinking is annihilation! On the other hand, doing some of the things you suggested is positive energy! If I try and look for what's good in my relationships/job/myself/recovery.....I find that postive flow so healing/loving/transforming!:grin
