I was getting ready for dance rehersals the other day and thought of how I love to move, to know what my body can do, be it dancing, singing, surfing, swimming or just walking. I thought of my difficult days that I experience and how when I utilize the body that I have been given I feel good. I thought of the whole of those who fight the same difficulties with their bodies and thought how our society and religions majority do not focus on feeding the spirit throught using the body. I thought how our society does not know what to do with our bodies and we feel akward with them , like we have to do some thing with them. I thought how when I do yoga or dance my body feels aligned with my spirit and I feel comfortable in my skin. So much in fact that I love and enjoy the fact that it just is. I was curious to know if others felt the same way, if they agreed that there is a lack of identity with who we are, related to this manner. And if this maybe could be one of the root causes or cures for eating disorders.

:hugonyouarethestars:hugoff Good topic :happy....there are many eastern schools that use dance as a form of worship and also some of the more expressive of the Christian orders. I believe that our Creator's spirit is in our bodies so it's possibble that joyous movement may help to bring us closer to God.....keep on dancin' :robot.....:dog

:love that name :love. Hey, Welcome to the :bowl!! Glad you swam in :supergrin !!

Movement is our body's way of expressing inner emotions. When we're mad or stressed, we stomp, fling things, our physical actions are much more jagged and defined. But, when we're at peace we move much more fluid, graceful. I personally dance as much as I can. I'm no professional, that would be obvious if you saw me :sarcasm, but I love to feel my body moving. I'm very much at peace when I'm dancing (or doing yoga).

I read a little snip somewhere, "Dance as if no one is watching!" That's right! I believe there really is no "wrong way" to dance; just move your body!! :grin You're just expressing that inner happiness and joy and that can NEVER be wrong!!

Keep posting, YATS!!

......p.s. I wanna see :dog dancin!!! :muhaha .....

:peace
:love

When I am moving in dance or yoga I usually feel wonderful. :sun

Then there are those horrible days when I feel heavy and sad and dull.:sleepy

I hope that YOUR good days outnumber the bad ones, and that you can find joy in your body.

Great name :supergrin! and I love your post as well.

I agree that being connected to our bodies through dance, yoga, etc can be wonderfully healing.
