Hey fish,

Im wondering......Ive never lived on my own and Im moving out of my parents house in one week. We do the closing and moving in one day. Im excited but really really nervouse. I have a lot of family here and Im really close with them.

Ive never been good at having time on my own. Just worried about all the firsts that are happening in one week. I have hobbies but with my anxiety and all of the excitement; it usually takes me a long time to relax. If ever.
I guess I just want to know what you guys like to do in your own space. :challenge

Also what did you all do on your first night on your own?

Thanks :ummm

I was so scared to be out on my own at first.
But it does get easier.

How far away are you moving from your family?

I've been living on my own for a little while now, but I'm not the expert on what to do. I'm kind of boring :muhaha and anti-social :ohboy.
It was scary at first, but now it's nice. I am able to sit and read without distraction, I can study without distraction - well, except for my cat.

Something that I definitely want to recommend is finding a way to make the apartment yours. This is your home and you can set it up whichever way you would like. You could find some great paintings or prints to hang up, sweet lamps. It may take a while to make it exactly how you want it, but it will get there and it really is a nice feeling.

I honestly found that to be one of the most helpful things of living on my own. I don't have much of a family, and I only talk to my team and a couple friends. So it gets kind of lonely being out on my own. But I slowly added things to the apartment and now I honestly feel that I am at home.

I hope some of this made sense.
I'm excited for you and I can clearly remember the anxiety of it all.

Hopefully you'll check in here after you move.
Take care of yourself as you move - it is stressful.
Be good to you.

Honestly, on my first day in my own home, I did everything I'd always wanted to do but couldn't because there were other people around. I spent the entire night knitting, watching movies on the independent film network, put my feet up on the coffee table, walked around in my bathrobe and comfy jammies. I didn't worry about unpacking or decorating. I just got the things out that I knew I would want to have and settled in. It was one of the best nights of my life!
