Have any of you ever been to a Biblical counselor/psychologist? I attempted it earlier this year, and am contemplating going again. The first time I went it was to a general counselor, but I know of some good psychologists who specialize in eating disorders and do Bible-based counseling and was curious if anyone has any experience with this and how it went for them? Opinions on if this is a good route or if I should just pursue the eating disorder alone specialization? Just curious! Thanks.

My opinion is that yes if you have the opportunity to seek biblical counseling then yes it will be more beneficial. I only did general counseling also but it wasn't until I found God that true Freedom entered my life. If you can find someone that will teach you about the keys to Freedom and how to fight off that stink'in devil then take advantage of it and keep your hope in the Lord, He is, after all, the one and only true Healer!

I would go the Biblical counseling route. It is really helpful, because having things based on God's word can be really beneficial, & more helpful than a secular counselor, especiall if you're a Christian.

My therapy sessions are not bible based per-se, but almost all of my therapists and psychiatrists have treated me in a Judeo-Christian, faith based manner. But it wasn't until this Lenten Season that I fully embraced such a wonderful way of stopping Ed in his tracks. My opinion -- yes, go for it! But I would also add that you need to have faith and believe in God's healing power through His Holy Spirit. Without His part in the equation they are no more than words. With God all things are possible.

God Bless!
