swimsuit issue

I'm supposed to have this wonderful getaway this weekend to the lake, and unfortunatley it's not that wonderful for me. I hate wearing a bathing suit, and I hate shopping for one even more. How am I supposed to have a good time, when all that I am worried about is the way I look? I have been trying really hard not to b/p but What else can I do? I feel so grosse! I just wish I could stay home, actually thinking up excuse not to go.

I definitely know how you feel. I really hate wearing a swimsuit. I don't ever shop for them in stores either I always shop for them online because I am afraid of what the people around me are going to think. I always end up getting the one that covers the most and I always hate when I wear it and people around me comment on why I cover up so much. As for your weekend are you going with a friend? I know when I am on a beach vacation or something I feel better with a good friend around. You should try to go on this getaway and enjoy yourself as much as you can! Sorry I am not great at giving advice but I wish you luck!

Thank you so much for understanding! I decided to wear shorts, and tank top, so I wouldn't feel on display, but know everyone will ask me where my swimsuit is. I just wish I wasn't so nervous about the whole thing, and I could just have a good time the way that "normal" people do.

What difference would it make to you if you knew that almost no one cares what you look like in a swimsuit? What if almost no one is judging you except for you?

I completely :ear you on this issue. I honestly do not remember when was the last time I bought a bathing suit :ummm Of course, this has been tough because I don't go in the ocean or swimming pool because I don't own one!!
My family has been so supportive in trying to make me feel comfortable, and like :pinkfishy Kensington said, in reality, most people either don't really care what you look like in a swimsuit, or they are are too consumed with what they look like in a bathing suit!!:igotit
Wear whatever you feel comfy in so you can enjoy your vacation!:challenge
If it's shorts and a tank, that's great! It may be a challenge in and of itself, but at least you can participate rather than isolating by choosing NOT to go!
