I got asked to think about what happiness is to me and I did it as though I was looking back, recovered and secure. This is where I want to be. Please add comments :happy
Now that she’s allowed to feel,
Not fearing that they’ll say,
What you’re saying is not real,
So shrugging, feigns “OK”
She can always say “no”
When she knows its no good,
And doesn’t just do it,
Because she just “should”
But she always says “yes”
When life throws a chance,
The memories made,
The High School dance.
And when she looks back,
She has no regret,
No longer wishing,
That she could forget.
She has come to accept,
What’s happened has past,
But love and friendship,
These things they still last
She attacks a challenge,
She knows she can’t fail.
It doesn’t exist,
No longer derailed.
She’s learnt to accept,
Their faults and her own,
She’s learnt it’s ok,
To be fully-grown.
She isn’t abandoned,
For being much older.
She doesn’t let others,
Suppress her or mould her.
She cares and she listens,
And takes the time.
But can honestly say,
“Those problems aren’t mine”.
She refuses guilt,
For mistakes she has made.
She’s learnt and she’s changed
Her debt has been paid.
She’s independent
And happy to be,
Now that she’s found,
Her autonomy.
Hopelessness mixed,
With guilt and more fear,
Had made her want to
Disappear.
Now that she’s solid,
And she just wants to be,
And now finally
She’s totally free.
