Hi! I just bought some new e.d. books and I was wondering if anyone's heard of them or read them?
*Andrea's Voice
*A Very Hungry Girl
*Appetites

I was also considering buying Gaining and Solitaire. Anyone read those?

Hola!~

I looked up Andrea's Voice and it looks like it's worth reading. I like that the mother put out the book and included her struggles with grief.

I would read A Very Hungry Girl because the author has fully recovered and has many years of experience (vs. Gaining).

Happy Reading!!

Andrea's Voice is fantastic, but very intense. I recommend having a box of tissues nearby (though Doris is a friend, so I might have had a stronger reaction than someone who doesn't know her).

I also loved A Very Hungry Girl. Jess is a fun lady and very motivating.

Which Appetites? The one by Caroline Knapp or Geneen Roth? I read Roth's and it really changed my outlook on what recovery. I haven't read Knapp's, but have heard good things about it.

I read "Appetites" it is an awesome book. It is not your typical ED book. It discusses the social implications of what we deal with along with personal experience.

I also bought two new books this weekend. One of them was just released I think.
"My Thin Excuse" by Lisa Messinger and Merle Cantor Goldberg
"Regaining Your Self" by Ira M. Sacker M.D.

The second author is a coauthor "dying to Be Thin"

Shelly, which Appetites did you read? There are two books with that title (different authors).
I'll be interested in hearing what you think of My Thin Excuse, since I gave a presentation with Merri Goldberg during Awareness Week. I haven't read it yet.

My roommate just finished Regaining Your Self. She said it was interesting and thinks it would be a good book for parents to read, to understand more about the mind and personality of someone with an ED.

I'll have to read My Thin Excuse. I've never heard of it! Also has anyone read Slim to None? I'm reading it right now. It's pretty intense, but I like it.

I read the Appetites by Caroline Knapp.

I have read about half of "Regaining Your Self". I agree it would be a good book for parents or family members to read. I have also so far found it enlightening and introspective in some ways.

I've read Slim to None. It is one of the most heartbreaking books I've read. The woman basically gave up. I wouldn't read it if you believe that there's no hope for recovery.
