I heard the book is good and I know a friend who wants the book, I'm going to wait for a used copy to come available and I'm planning on buying a copy for myself and my friend. As you continue reading if you could provide additional thoughts that would be great!

The title is interesting. Could someone elaborate about what it is?

It's the full title of Aimee Liu's second book about her ED. I think there's another thread about it on here.

There was another thread about. I'll see if I can bump it up.

The book is a mix of research, self-disclosure, and the stories of other men/women with eating disorders. Well, at least, anorexia and bulimia. I don't think she looked at binge eating or compulsive eating.

Liu looks at men and women who are recovered and very far in recovery, considering similiar personality traits. She also reviews some nuerology and biochemistry stuff that contribute to the development of eating disorders.

Many of us have heard that people with eating disorders often have histories of perfectionistic families, high acheivement, abuse, sports that encourage thinness, etc. etc.

Liu considers the fact that not EVERYONE from an abusive home, or with perfectionistic, high pressure parents, or gymnatics/ballet/track, etc. develops an eating disorder. She looks at how families with many of the trademark red flags raise girls withOUT eating disorders. She looks at how some sisters will develop an ED and the other sister will be fine.

Lui looks at the unique experiences and biology that cause ED to develop in some people, but not in others. It's an interesting, well researched read.
