(((:bowl)))

Has anyone read this? It really irritated me! Maybe it was the frame of mind of was in, but i felt really patronised. There's a stage where she writes after she has appeared on GMTV - where she's been discussing being 'in recovery' yet from what she was writing at that time she was far from recovered and stil very much trapped in the ed. I don't want to be horrible and it's just my viewpoint. Like Anna Paterson's 'anorexic' this came across as very self indulgent. The author seemed to crave fame and noterity, and i got the impression she thrived off being famous for being ill. I also got a bit annoyed about the section advising on food intake. It just came across as very hypocritical...

I find myself irritated at a lot of personal accounts of ED's. Like someone just telling a story of their own ed....

Of course not all, But I find A LOT of the time, they come across as almost bragging. Like, "Im good now, but Oh, look how sick I could get." ESPECIALLY when they include weights and numbers, food lists etc.

I agree, that some people just "need" the validation for their disease. They enjoy being famous for it. I think it's almost like re-living their ed and getting attention or sympathy from so many other ppl... like they did with family and friends during their disease.

I think it has to do with the whole competitive nature of the disease, the need to maybe prove that one is "sick enough" to warrent recovery. Maybe they just need to be heard. Have their struggle, all of the years, energy, health, relationships, experiences... essentially- LIFE that they lost to their illness mean something.

just my two cents :shy
