I just finished reading The Body Myth by Margo Maine. I thought it was an excellent book looking at the differences of eating disorders in adulthood versus adolescence. Maine also talks a lot about culture, the "Body Myth," and family. There are also helpful techniques and lists as well. Anyone else read it? What were your thoughts?

Margo is one of my favorite people! So is Joe Kelly, her co-writer.
I agree that it's a great book and the exercises are very useful. I attended their talk at some conference or other (Renfrew?) and they had us do one of the exercises as a group. I can't remember which one, but if I look at my copy of the book I can probably find it.
Even though the book is aimed at middle-aged women, most of the exercises could be used by anyone with an ED.

desiderata,
I have read the book also and found it very informative. The text provided me with some tangible "reasons" for my eating disorder to come back and at times mirrored how I have been thinking/managing stresses/pressures in my life. Since I no longer fit the younger profile of an eating disorder person...being at mid-life, it was comforting to find a book that addresses these complex issues. Take care,
Hugs,
