I'm sorry - I can't remember the author of this book other than she's called Grace, but I thought I'd let you all know about this.

It's a fantastic, honest account of what her life was like before, during and after anorexia and would be especially helpful in helping someone without an ED to understand.

HOWEVER - before she gets to the recovery stage there are quite a few potential triggers, so only read if you think you are strong enough.

BUT...she is truly inspirational and she honestly shows how recovery is possible, but from a very realistic stance. I especially like at the end when she finishes writing her journal and says that she's sat writing with a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit.

(There's a link to this website at the back, too :-D)

Grace Bowman

I started reading Thin in the bookstore and it seemed very familiar, and then when I got home I realised I've already got the book under a different title ... same book same author, but it's called "A Shape of my Own"

I am currently reading this book. I can really relate to a lot of what the author writes - especially as I have been in a similar situation - having to put uni off, still being ill but because my weight is fine I'm "well" and thus it is a very secret thing...I am looking forward to reading how she conquers it in the end. There are a lot of passages that I want to underline and use because I feel that she has truly accomplished her goal (as written in the foreword) of explaining what it is like in the disordered mind. I particularly appreciate that she has acknowledged that weight gain is not the "end of the road" and that she still struggled years after the weight gain, as I still do.

I think it's a bit naughty that the book has been relaunched with a different title though. Maybe I'm cynical, but it seems a bit money grabbing as some people will end up buying it again!
