Hello :fishy's
If not Dieting, Then What? by Dr. Rick Kausman is good and has been used as a base in a treatment program I've been in. I didn't find it triggering at all.
Another book that isn't strictly about ED recovery and is actually a very humourous book is Real Gorgeous by Kaz Cooke, she is an Australian writer/journalist and her opinion of the media and fashion industries push to confirm to a particular body shape/size is that this is absurd as well as damaging.
The book will not be read without a good old belly laugh even though it tackles some very big issues. Really, it is about promoting a realistic and positive body image and pokes fun at many of the 'rules' that are placed upon us. For example, one chapter is called 'You are Not Your Buttocks' with a sub section on suggestions of how to deal with 'body police' :muhaha you know, those people who feel it is their place in the world to tell you whether or not you have gained or lost weight or if they think you should etc etc.
It is not triggering, it is hilarious, it is insightful, it does include some Australian humour and it really does contain many useful hints for those difficult situations and some awesome self talk suggestions. Ummm...do you get that I'm really really really recommending this book? :hairy Actually, should go soon, need to go read it again :grin
Oh yeah, it is even PINK
Just remembered, Kaz Cooke has also written a book equally excellent called Up the Duff which is in a similar vain and is all about being positive and pregnant for those who are in that life stage. And Kid Wrangling which is about surviving those early years, I've not read this last one, but it has to be brilliant. From flicking through it in the book store though, it also seems to have some post baby body image issues stuck in here and there too.
I wish I could be like Oprah :phil (well we don't have Oprah do we :sarcasm) and just pop a copy of each of Kaz's books under your chairs, but alas :sad no can do.
Well, that was quite an essay, sorry folks, :ohboy
Hope this has given some ideas.
