Welcome to the Something Fishy Book Club forum!

So often a good book can help a person move forward in recovery & see things in a whole new light. :igotit I will be selecting a book several times during the year & starting a thread about it. Anyone who would like to read the book or has already read it can join in on the thread & give your thoughts. If you haven't read the book but would like to ask questions or make comments, you can also do that.

Some of the books will be specifically about eating disorders. Some will be related to subjects that are important to recovery but not specifically ed related, such as improving your self-esteem, conquering past demons & learning to love & accept yourself.

There is no guarantee that a book will not trigger someone. Considering the number of books out there, the number of members in the :bowl & the numerous things that may or may not trigger someone, there's no way to pick a book that is guaranteed to be "safe" for everyone! :winky The mods & I will do our best to give an overall warning of anything that a member might want to consider staying away from. Some of the books may have numbers - that's simply something that can't be controlled. Any general description of a new book chosen will include comments that indicate what might be in it that a member might want to avoid.

If you would like to start a post recommending a book, feel free to. Let people know why that book helped you.

Enjoy the new forum!

Awesome! Everyone here probably knows about me and books...

Kensy, Could we start a thread on some non-ED books that we all might want to discuss? I know there still could be triggering things, but I know that in the "Getting to Know You" forum thread about books, there are some common titles.

Any thoughts, mods?

SQ, if they are books that contribute to recovery, like a SARK book, that's fine. If they have nothing to do with EDs but rather just pleasure reading, put them on the Getting to Know You forum.

For anyone interested in the threads for all the books selected for the Book Club, you can do a search on this board for all threads started by me & a list will come up of all the threads started for a new book.

You can also see all the posts done on this forum (going back to the beginning of the board) by looking at "Display Options" (bottom left of list of thread titles on the board) & changing the setting from "From the Last Month" to "Beginning" (using the drop down menu). :funky

Heeey,

I have got a question! Obviously, the book talked about is "Life without ed" (which I've started reading today!!) and there's a thread to it here in the book-forum. What about the other books? I'd like to know what people think about "When women stop hating their bodies", since it seems to be quite popular and seems to have helped those who suffer... Are there still threads concerning the "older" books?

Sorry if this question is posted falsly,

Santa!

Kensington,

thanks a lot for the new sticky thread!!! Though I still have a question :shy

In the other thread "List book nr four: Life without ed by..." we are talking about the book, sharing out thoughts. Have their been threads before like THIS (where you get to know other's opinion about said book) with the other enlistened books?

I am sorry if I didn't express myself clearly in the last post!

Thanks a bunch :D!

Each book has an announcement for it & discussion on it. Sometimes people start another thread about the book, too. You can search for those posts using the search feature.
