Alright fishies, what's your favorite song lyrics?

Today (mine changes rather frequently!), mine is from the song "Yesterday," by the Beatles:

"Yesterday
all my troubles seemed so far away
now it looks as though they're here to stay
oh I believe
in yesterday..."

So, that for me is a hard thing to choose too...
But for me it has to be :stars Gavin Mikhail "Fight The Sky" :stars

I will watch you fight the sky
You make them run and hide
You wait for it to die now
I will watch you fight the sky
You make them run and hide
I'll watch you fight the sky now...

You fight the daily battles of a million things created of and around what you fear and know and fear not knowing we get thrown into the face of a thousand trains you've trained upon our ears here we are here we are still listening.

~
I love Yesterday, It is so dreamlike.:stars :touched

My favorites change all the time, but as a fan of Elliott Smith (my obsession) I have to say that I love his song "Pretty, Ugly before." It goes like this... :singing

Sunshine, been keeping me up for days
There is no night time, it's only a passing phase
And I feel pretty, pretty enough for you
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do

Sometimes is all I feel up to now
But it's not worth it to you
Cos you gotta get high somehow
Is it destruction that you require to feel
Like somebody wants you, someone that's more for real

Sunshine, been keeping me up for days
There is no night time, only a passing phase
And I'll feel pretty, another hour or two

I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
Ugly before

I am one of those people who can't choose a favorite ANYTHING (even color - lol). I could literally stand holding two opposing products forever without ever feeling a clear desire for one over the other - I beg people to make decisions for me sometimes, lol, so while I can't say this is my favorite song it is one I love for it's yrics. I am an actress and wish I could recall some of the gazillions of lyrics from musicals that I cherish. Here:

Lyrics: REJOICE IN THE LORD

God never moves without purpose or plan.
When trying His servant and molding a man.

Give thanks to the LORD, though your testing seems long.
In darkness, He giveth a song.

*Chorus*
O REJOICE IN THE LORD!
He makes no mistake.
He knoweth the end of each path that I take!
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

Alanis Morrissette:

And you're like a ninties Noah
And they laughed at you
As you packed all of your things
And they wonder why you're frustrated
And they wonder why you're so angry
And is it just me or are you fed up

God bless you in your travels
In your conquests and queries

i am a HUGE fan of the Fray-- i have a few favorites from their songs

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

...

Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

...

Hold on tight, wait for tomorrow, you'll be alright

...

She doesn't look, she doesn't see
Opens up for nobody
Figures out, she figures out
Narrow line, she can't decide
Everything short of suicide
Never hurts, nearly works

Something is scratching
Its way out
Something you want
To forget about

A part of you that'll never show
You're the only one that'll ever know
Take it back when it all began
Take your time, would you understand
What it's all about?
What it's all about?

Hmmm, I think this depends on my mood. There's a Feeder song, Can't Rewind that's great.

"Your just a face in the crowd
A tiny hole in a cloud
We're making all kinds of shapes
Somehow we can straighten out bends

This is our time, we can't rewind
Our place to shine out
And we could do it anyway
This is our time to feel sublime
Our place to shine now
And we could live it anyway

We can't rewind"

I :love these lyrics, they're all about not re hashing and re-hashing something, you can't undo what's been done.

I Don't Wanna Be by Gavin Degraw

:singing :notes I don't have to be anyone other
Than the birth of two souls in one
Part of where I'm going, is knowing where I'm coming from

[Chorus:]
I don't want to be
Anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do
Is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking 'round rooms
Wondering what I've got to do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't want to be anything other than me :singing:notes

I love that song and the one in my signature

Believe by Josh Groban

:singing:notes Believe in what your heart is saying, hear the melody that's playing, there's no time to waste, there's so much to celebrate. Believe in what you feel inside and give your dreams the wings to fly -you have everything you need, if you just believe :singing:notes

With Dave Matthews' voice, these lyrics, how can you go wrong? Because I think it is a super hot song (not because it has some deeper meaning) :sly ...

Dreamgirl (Dave Matthews Band)

Yeah, Ya, Yeah
Yeah, Ya, Yeah Oh.

Yeah... Hey, alright...
(I) I would dig a hole all the way to China
unless of course I was there
and I'd dig my way home.
If by digging I could steal
The wind from the sails of the greedy men who ruled the world.
Still you're my best friend
and after a good, good drunk
you and me wake up and make love
after a deep sleep where I was dreaming
I was dreaming of a

Dreamgirl
Dreamgirl
Dreamgirl (Yeah)
Dreamgirl

I was feeling like a creep as I watched you asleep
face down in the grass in the park in the middle of hot afternoon
Your top was untied and I thought how nice it'd be to follow the sweat down your spine.
You're like my best friend
Oh, after a good good drink
you and me wake up and make love
after a deep sleep where I was dreaming
I was dreaming of a

Dreamgirl (yeah)
Dreamgirl
Dreamgirl (yeah)
Dreamgirl

Caught by a wave my back to the ocean.
It knocks me off my feet and
just as I find my footing
here you come again!

Dreamgirl, oh
Dreamgirl (mumble man)
The deep end...

*sigh* oh to have a man sing this to me, my life would be complete :wub

Daniel Beddingfield... Goodbye My Lover

:notes "goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend, you have been the one, you have been the one for me."
- I like this song, because when I sing it, I sing it really loud :singing , cause I am saying goodbye to my (or my interpretation)... anorexia.

Tori Amos... Winter

:notes "when you gonna make up your mind, when you gonna love you as much as I do..."
-reminds me of my dad.

Of course... Ani Difranco... Angry Anymore

:notes "I just want you to understand, that I know what all the fighting was for, I just want you to understand, I'm not angry anymore..."

Moby... Feeling So Real

:notes "yes, yes, here we go... I'm FEELING SO REAL..."

Cant make it all alone
Ive built my dreams around you

:ohboy Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong

With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

:ohboy neil young hey hey mymy

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture

Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you're gone, you can't come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
Is this the story of johnny rotten?
It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Another fan of The Fray here!!!

My fave song is How to Save a Life:

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life

Two of my favorites are in my signature (from Ready To Rise and Sullen Girl).

I have SO many others that I love. Nothing is better than song lyrics that make you say "YES! That's it exactly!"

One that helps me through the rough spots is "Just a Ride" by Jem. It reminds me to not take life so seriously sometimes:

Just A Ride ~ Jem

Life, it's ever so strange
It's so full of change
Think that you've worked it out
then BANG
Right out of the blue
Something happens to you
To throw you off course
and then you

Break down
Yeah you break down
Well don't you break down
Listen to me
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared
don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget it's just a ride

Truth, we don't wanna hear
It's too much to take
Don't like to feel out of control
So we make our plans
Ten times a day
And when they don't go
our way we

Break down
Yeah we break down
Well don't you break down
Listen to me
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared
don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget it's just a ride

Slowly, oh so very slowly
except that
there's no getting off

So live it, just gotta go with it
because this ride is never gonna stop

Break down
Don't you break down
No need to break down
No need at all
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you all around
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared now
dry your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget...
ENJOY THE RIDE

I know there are a million more that I love, so I'll post those later. Great thread!!

I just discovered this song about a week ago...and I've been listening to it and crying ever since, lol. It has helped me a lot.

"Heal Over" by K.T. Tunstall

It isn't very difficult to see why
You are the way you are
Doesn't take a genius to realize
That sometimes life is hard
It's gonna take time
But you'll just have to wait
You're gonna be fine
But in the meantime

Come over here lady
Let me wipe your tears away
Come a little nearer baby
'Cause you'll heal over
Heal over
Heal over someday

And I don't wanna hear you tell yourself
That these feelings are in the past
You know it doesn't mean they're off the shelf
Because pain is built to last
Everybody sails alone
But we can travel side by side
Even if you fail
You know that no one really minds

Come over here lady
Let me wipe your tears away
Come a little nearer baby
'Cause you'll heal over
Heal over
Heal over someday

Don't hold on but don't let go
I know it's so hard
You've got to try to trust yourself
I know it's so hard, so hard...yeah

Come over here lady
Let me wipe your tears away
Come a little nearer baby
'Cause you'll heal over, heal over, heal over someday

I like songs about life and love :groovy. My favorite two are "Devotion", by the Indigo Girls, and "Wild Horses", by the Rolling Stones (I also LOVE :love the re-make by the Sundays)...Here are some lyrics from both:

Devotion

I pulled out with the mountain laurel blooming
On a dirt road that is soon to be paved
Down to the site of my original establishment
And the west end family grave

Cause one day moves into two
And I'm losing
Everything except for you
And I would sing you a song of devotion
Yeah that's what I should do

Blood runs thick and when it rains it pours down
On the family tree on the fields of war
I spend my time being broken hearted and grieving bound
Yeah I haven't much need to look forward

I just let a one day move into two
I'm losing
Everything except for you
I would sing you a song of devotion

Book of days
The way things lay
That's just space and time
I gave it up
All for a love
That won't be defined

I've had enough temporary acquisition
Building fences for no gain
Taking dead trees down before the winter freeze
I said let 'em rot and fall where they may

Wild Horses

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I cant let you slide through my hands

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I dont have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Lets do some living after we die

And some random song lyrics I just love :lubdub ...

we get a little further from perfection
each year on the road
i guess that's what they call character
i guess that's just the way it goes
better to be dusty than polished
like some store window mannequin
why don't you touch me where i'm rusty
let me stain your hands
~Ani DiFranco, "Imperfectly"

"and i was blessed with a birth and a death
and i guess i just want some say in between"
~more Ani :grin

Im breaking through
Im bending spoons
Im keeping flowers in full bloom
Im looking for answers from the great beyond

My favorite lyrics are "Across the Night" by Silverchair:

Across the night
It was the moon that stole my slumber
Across the night
I fell in love with people sleeping
And hugged a man's arthritic shoulder

I fell tired, asleep in a golden ocean
Your eyes perspired, a spike in my fascination

I don't mean to make you cry
But this feeling will run right through the night
And I'll only make you cry with these feelings

Sleepless, untamed without a leash on the light around me

So let us be married and have another baby
Coz I don't wanna be lonely I just wanna be alone
Yes let's just get married shouting baby, baby, babies
"You'll never sleep at all"
But I don't wanna be lonely

Never seen the sunshine
From higher points than sunrise

I am Strong.

Evanescence!!! Don't actually know the song (hehe), but I love to read through her lyrics.

Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child.
Lie to me,
Convince me that I've been sick forever.
And all of this,
Will make sense when I get better.
But I know the difference,
Between myself and my reflection.
I just can't help but to wonder,
Which of us do you love?

CURRENT favorites:

christian - Chris Tomlin "How Great is Our God"

The splendor of the King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
all the earth rejoice
He wraps Himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
it trembles at His voice
trembles at His voice

How Great is our God
sing with me
How great is our God
and all will see how great
How great is our God
...

and then there's Natasha Bedingfield "Unwritten"

Feel the rain on your skin
Noone else can feel it for you
only you can let it in
no one else, no one else
can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
live your life with arms wide open
today is where your book beings
the rest is still unwritten

These lyrics apply to everything...

friends who were never really friends, boyfriends that never really loved you and of course Eds that were only ever tricking you...

My favourite song of all time

Bob Dylan - Positively Fourth Street

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You're in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, "How are you?" "Good luck"
But you don't mean it

When you know as well as me
You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once
And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I'd rob them

And now I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don't you understand
It's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
To see you

The Scientist

Come up to meet you, tell you Im sorry
You dont know how lovely you are
I had to find you, tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions
Oh lets go back to the start
Running in circles, coming up tails
Heads on a silence apart

Nobody said it was easy
Oh its such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said that it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start
I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Running in circles, chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh its such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
Im going back to the start

I am sure you guys can tell it's my fav song. It is after all in my signature. HEHEHE :cheesy

I HOPE YOU DANCE (Leanne Womack)

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Tracy Chapman - Devotion
(dedicated to my lovely ED)

If this be obsession...deliver me.
A passing infatuation...deliver me.
A feeling lacking in purity...deliver me.
A test of fidelity...deliver me.

What if I should find...
You're no good for me?
What if I can't be strong enough?
What if I can't break free?
Of my devotion.

othewise you would cry your eyes out.

Indigo Girls

You can stand me up at the gates of hell
but I won't back down.

They'll know that we are Christians by our love.
Amy Grant

Bring me my bow of burning gold
bring me my arrows or desire
bring me my spear, oh clouds unfold,
bring me my chariot of fire.

"Unravel" by Bjork(simple but GENIUS)

while you are away
my heart comes undone
slowly unravels
in a ball of yarn
the devil collects it
with a grin
our love
in a ball of yarn
he'll never return it...

so when you come back
we'll have to make new love

"ballad of big nothing" by Elliott Smith

the helpless little thing with the dirty mouth who's always got something to say
all spit and spite you're up all night and down every day
a tired man with only hours to go just waiting to be taken away
getting in to the back of a car for candy from some stranger
watching the parade with pinpoint eyes full of smoldering anger
you can do what you want to whenever you want to
you can do what you want to there's no one to stop you
do what you want to whenever you want to
though it doesn't mean a thing
big nothing

"between the bars" elliott smith (this song makes me cry:sad )

drink up, baby, look at the stars, i'll kiss you again
between the bars
where i'm seeing you there with your hands in the air
waiting to finally be caught
drink up one more time and i'll make you mine
keep you apart, deep in my heart
separate from the rest, where i like you the best
and keep the things you forgot
the people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
that push and shove and won't bend to your will
i'll keep them still

Great songs, Mongrel! I absolutely adore both Bjork and Elliott Smith. I am rather obsessed with the latter and yes, his songs are very sad, but oh so beautiful. :love

Here is one of my favorite songs by another favorite artist, Jeff Buckley, called "New Years Prayer."

Oooooo, Fall in light, fall in light. Fall in light, fall in light
Feel no shame for what you are
As you now are in your blood
Fall in light

Feel no shame for what you are
Feel no shame for what you are
Feel it as a water fall
Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light
Grow in light

Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Past the sound within the sound
Past the voice within the voice

Leave your office
Run past your funeral
Leave your home, car
Leave your pulpit
Join us in the streets where we
Join us in the streets where we
Don’t belong, don’t belong
You and the stars
Throwing light

Ooooooh
Fall, fall
Ooooooh
Fall in light, fall in light. fall in light
Oooooh
Fall in light, fall in light fall in light
Grow in light

Good choice deeperstill - I also love the lyrics to Unwritten.
One of my favourite songs at the moment is the new one by Kelis. I can really relate to the lyrics.

Kelis- Lil Star

There is nothing special about me
I am just a little star
If it seems like I'm shining brightly
It's probably a reflection of something you already are
I forget about myself sometimes
When there's so many others around
When deep inside you feels darkest
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found

(Chorus)
Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner or later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cos in the dark of night you're all I can see
And you sure look like a star to me

There is nothing special about me
I am just a little star
If you try to reach out and touch me
You'll see I'm not really that far
I may not be the brightest nor am I the last one you'll see
But as long as you notice, that's just fine with me
Everything's just fine with me
Everything's just fine with me

(Chorus)

There is nothing special about me
I am just a little star
I've been running and jumping, but barely
Getting, getting over the bar
I plan on being much more than I am but that's in due time
Until then I'm guilty, and being human's my crime
Just being human, that is my crime
Just being human, that is my crime

'If something has to change,
Then it always will,
If something has to break,

No you don't need this disease,
Not right now, no no not right now...'

Alanis Morissette - I'm a Bitch I'm a Lover

I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath
innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved to see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
all rolled into one

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
and I'm going to extremes
tomorrow I will change
and today won't mean a thing

Just when you think you've got me figured out
the season's already changing
I think it's cool you do what you do
and don't try to save me

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
when you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numbed, I'm revived
can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

I am also a fan of The Fray's How To Save a Life. My favorites would have to be:

Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)

When everything is wrong, we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along

The first song ever to make me cry.

Michelle Branch, 'Goodbye to You', just came up on iPod shuffle and for some reason reminded me of ED related things for the first time (even though I've heard the song countless times before!) Especially...

I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can't live a day without you
Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it's not right

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
The one thing that I tried to hold on

And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time
I want what's yours and I want what's mine
I want you
But I'm not giving in this time.

Without a doubt, it's always been Sting's "Fields of Gold", for the way it reminds me of my childhood days playing with mates (or alone) in the fields near my home.

"Fields Of Gold"

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in the fields of gold
We'll walk in the fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold

Just does it for me, every time.

I'm all about the songs that speak to my ED.

My all-time pro-recovery, inspirational, helpful song:

Ride of Your Life
-Oliver James

Wishing on a shooting star
The dreams alone get you far
Can’t deny your feelings anymore
The world is waiting right outside your door
What are you waiting for?

Come on, here’s your chance
Don’t let it slip right through your hands
Are you ready for the ride of your life?
Your dreams are riding on the wind
Just reach out and pull them in and
Get ready for the ride of your life
The ride of your life

In your heart, you know what must do
You've only got yourself to answer to
Don’t let fear of fallen hold you down
Your spirit's flying high above the clouds
You're glory bound

Come on here’s your chance
Don’t let it slip right through your hands
Are you ready, for the ride of your life
Your dreams are riding on the wind
Just reach out and pull them in and
Get ready for the ride of your life

You are on your way no looking back
There’s no future living in the past
You’re free at last yeah
You’re free at last

Come on here’s your chance
Don’t let it slip right through your hands
Are you ready for the ride of your life yea
Your dreams are riding on the wind
Just reach out and pull them in and
Get ready for the ride of your life
Ride of your life

Come on, come on get ready
Yea, yea, yea
Your dreams are riding on the wind
Just reach out and pull them in
Get ready for the ride of your life

I've always loved the lyrics to Simon & Garfunkel's The Boxer, and Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn. As poems they're lovely.

The Boxer
I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocketful of mumbles
Such are promises
All lies and jest
Still, a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station,
Running scared, laying low
Seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places
Only they would know

Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
But I get no offers
Just a come-on from the whores on seventh avenue
I do declare
There were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Then I'm laying out my winter clothes
And wishing I was gone
Going home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me,
Leading me
Going home

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of every glove that laid him down
And cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving
But the fighter still remains

Walking in Memphis

Put on my blue suede shoes and I
Boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
W.C. Handy
Won't you look down over me
Yeah, I got a first class ticket
But I'm as blue as a boy can be

Then I'm walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

Saw the ghost of Elvis
On Union Avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
Then I watched him walk right through
Now, security did not see him
They just hovered round his tomb
But there's a pretty little thing
Waiting for the king
Down in the jungle room

When I was walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

Now, they've got catfish on the table
They've got gospel in the air
The Reverend Green, be glad to see you
When you haven't got a prayer

But boy you got a prayer in Memphis

Now, Muriel plays piano
Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would
Do a little number
And I sang before my might
She said, "Tell me are you a Christian, child?"
And i said, "Ma'am, I am tonight"

When I was walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

Walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

Put on my blue suede shoes and I
Boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain

That song is actually "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks! :cute

Express Yourself - Madonna

You dont need diamond rings
Or eighteen karat gold
Fancy cars that go very fast
You know they never last, no, no
What you need is a big strong hand
To lift you to your higher ground
Make you feel like a queen on a throne
Make him love you till you cant come down
[youll never come down]

(chorus)

Long stem roses are the way to your heart
But he needs to start with your head
Satin sheets are very romantic
What happens when youre not in bed
You deserve the best in life
So if the time isnt right then move on
Second best is never enough
Youll do much better baby on your own
[baby on your own]

(chorus)

Express yourself
[youve got to make him]
Express himself
Hey, hey, hey, hey
So if you want it right now, make him show you how
Express what hes got, oh baby ready or not

I was going to start this thread but was beat to it!

Here is mine:

Way Back Into Love

I've been living with a shadow overhead
I've been sleeping with a cloud above my bed
I've been lonely for so long
Trapped in the past, I just can't seem to move on

I've been hiding all my hopes and dreams away
Just in case I ever need em again someday
I've been setting aside time
To clear a little space in the corners of my mind

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
Oh oh oh

I've been watching but the stars refuse to shine
I've been searching but I just don't see the signs
I know that it's out there
There's got to be something for my soul somewhere

I've been looking for someone to shed some light
Not just somebody just to get me throught the night
I could use some direction
And I'm open to your suggestions

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart again
I guess I'm hoping you'll be there for me in the end

There are moments when I don't know if it's real
Or if anybody feels the way I feel
I need inspiration
Not just another negotiation

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart to you
I'm hoping you'll show me what to do
And if you help me to start again
You know that I'll be there for you in the end

my all time favorite song ever:

"world falls" - indigo girls (amy ray)

i'm coming home with a stone strapped onto my back
i'm coming home with a burning hope turning all my blues to black
i'm looking for a sacred hand to carve into my stone
a ghost of comfort angels breath to keep this life inside my chest
this world falls on me
hopes of immortality
everywhere i turn
all the beauty just keeps shaking me
now i woke up in the middle of a dream scared the world was too much for me
sejarez said, "don't let go just plant the seeds and watch them grow"
i've slept in rainy canyon lands cold drenched to my skin
i always wake to find a face to calm these troubled lands
this world falls on me
with dreams of immortality
everywhere i turn
all the beauty just keeps shaking me
now i'm running to the end of the earth
and i'm swimming to the edge of the sea
and i'm laughing i'm under a starry sky
this world was meant for me don't bury me
carry me
i wish i was a nomad an indian or a saint
the edge of death would disappear leave me nothing left to taint
i wish i was a nomad an indian or a saint
give me walking shoes, feathered arms, and a key to heaven's gate
this world falls on me
dreams of immortality
everywhere i turn
all the beauty just keeps shaking me
i'm running to the end of the earth
(this world falls on me with hopes if immortality)
i'm swimming to the edge of the sea
(everywhere i turn the beauty just keeps shaking me)
and i'm laughing, cause i'm under a starry sky
(this world falls on me hopes of immortality)
this world was meant for me
(everywhere i turn)
i've got hopes of immortality

this song has been encouraging and healing to me since it was recorded in the early nineties. it really defines me.

Lyrics to Five For Fighting The Riddle

There was a man back in '********
Whose heart ran out of summers
But before he died, I asked him

Wait, what's the sense in life
Come over me, Come over me

He said,

"Son why you got to sing that tune
Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon
Let an angel swing and make you swoon
Then you will see... You will see."

Then he said,

"Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I..."

Picked up my kid from school today
Did you learn anything cause in the world today
You can't live in a castle far away
Now talk to me, come talk to me

He said,

"Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small
In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all
Still every mother's child sings a lonely song
So play with me, come play with me"

And Hey Dad
[ these lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...

I said,

"Son for all I've told you
When you get right down to the
Reason for the world...
Who am I?"

There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see

He said... You looking for a clue I Love You free...

The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on while the moon is hiding over me
Something comes over me

I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man you know we got it all
Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball
And I love you free
I love you freely

Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...

When You Say Nothing At All
by Alison Krauss & Keith Whitley

It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don’t say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old mr. webster could never define
What’s being said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

Wishing on a dream that seems far off
Hoping it will come today

Into the starlit night
Foolish dreamers turn their gaze
Waiting on a shooting star

But, what if that star is not to come?
Will their dreams fade to nothing?
When the horizon darkens most
We all need to believe there is hope

Is an angel watching closely over me?
Can there be a guiding light I've yet to see?
I know my heart should guide me but,
There's a hole within my soul

What will fill this emptiness inside of me?
Am I to be satisfied without knowing?

I wish, then, for a chance to see
Now all I need (desperately)

Is my star to come

Beth Hart - "Lifetime"

She got a lover's soul, she lost her radio
She got her memories, her extremities
She's drivin' much too fast, she wants to make it last
She wrote a song for you, she calls it black and blue

[Chorus]
It ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
Ain’t no way, to live at all
Ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
It just ain’t no way darling, to live at all

She's sick of being late, she knows she's second rate
She wonders if you'll stay, and love her anyway
She's crawling back again, it's such a bitter end
She knows she don't belong, she screams a children's song

[Chorus]
And it ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
Ain’t no way, to live at all
Ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
It just ain’t no way darling, to live at all

And the sun don't shine my way
And the moon don't make me dance
If you're listening, hear me pray
I'd give my hands, for just a second chance
My plea is not in vain

She lost her lover's soul, she lost her radio
She got her memories, her extremities
Just let that bad man go, she's sweating in the snow
No one to call her own, don't call the truth ain't home

[Chorus]
And it ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
Ain’t no way, to live at all
Ain’t no way, to live a lifetime
It just ain’t no way darling, to live at all

It just ain’t no way, to live at all…

All alone, all alone...

this isn't a real lyric. it was from a stream of conscious that amy ray did once while on stage. i revisited this today, and it's really inspiring to me.

"i will walk down the street. i will hold my head high. i will say hello to everyone i meet. i will have love in my heart. when i have hate, i will turn my hate into energy. and when i have anger, i will turn my anger into energy. when i am negative, i will be negative only for as long as i need to be, until i understand it and then i will be positive. and i will not be complacent. and i will not be complacent. and i will not be a racist. and i will not be a sexist. and i will not be a homophobic asshole. and i will love. and i will love. and i will be happy that i am alive." ~ amy ray (indigo girls)

What Makes You Different (Makes you Beautiful) Lyrics

by The Backstreet Boys

:singing
:notes

You don’t run with the crowd
You go your own way
You don’t play after dark
You light up my day

Got your own kind of style
That sets you apart
Baby that’s why you capture my heart
I know sometimes you feel
Like you don’t fit in
And this world doesn’t know
What you have within

When I look at you
I see something rare
A rose that can grow anywhere (grow anywhere)
And there’s no one I know that can compare

Chorus:
What makes you different (oh, uh)
Makes you beautiful
What's there inside you
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I'll ever need
(You’re all I need oh girl, girl)
What makes you different makes you beautiful to me (yeah)

You've got something so real
You touched me so deep (touched me so deep)
See material things
Don't matter to me
So come as you are
You've got nothing to prove
You won me with all that you do
And I wanna take this chance to say to you

Chorus:
What makes you different (oh, uh)
Makes you beautiful
What's there inside you
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I'll ever need
(You’re all I need oh girl, girl)
What makes you different makes you beautiful to me (yeah)

You don't know (you don’t know)
How you've touched my life (my life)
Oh there's so many ways, I just can't describe (so many)
You taught me what love is supposed to be
It's all the little things that made you beautiful to me
(So beautiful, oh)

Chorus:
What makes you different (oh, uh)
Makes you beautiful
What's there inside you (shines)
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I'll ever need
(You’re all I need oh girl)
What makes you different makes you beautiful to me

Everything in you is beautiful (so beautiful)
Love you give shines right through me (shines to me)
Everything in you is beautiful (ohhh)
Beautiful to me (to me)

:bounce Bump for Lollie girl :bounce

Recently, I heard the song "Courage" by Superchic[k]. I now find myself playing this song over and over. The vocalist, Melissa Brock, herself, had anorexia, and the song is about recovery. I just think it is a great song. From their official website, Superchic[k] (http://www.superchickonline.com/),"What started as a vision for a one-girl revolution has multiplied into an army of nonconformists who believe in themselves and their ability to affect change. So defines the impact of Superchic[k], a Chicago-based band whose albums inspire, empower, and entertain with a call to rise above society's unhealthy trappings."

Here are the lyrics to "Courage"

I told another lie today
And I got through this day
No one saw through my games
I know the right words to say
Like "I don't feel well"
"I ate before I came"

Then someone tells me how good I look
and for a moment
For a moment I am happy
But when I'm alone
No one hears me cry

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be okay
Together we can make it through another day

I don't know the first time I felt unbeautiful
The day I chose not to eat
What I do know is how I changed my life forever
I know I should know better
There are days when I'm okay
And for a moment
For a moment I find hope
But there are days when I'm not okay
And I need your help
So I'm letting go

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be okay
Together we can make it through another day

You should know you're not on your own
These secrets are walls that keep us alone
I don't know when but what I know now
Together we'll make it through somehow
Together we'll make it through somehow

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be okay
Together we can make it through another day

Awww heck! Had to reply to this...

Look After You by The Fray

If I don't say this now I will surely break
As I'm leaving the one I want to take
Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait
My heart has started to separate

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you

There now, steady love, so few come and don't go
Will you won't you, be the one I always know
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
And I'll look after you

If ever there was a doubt
My love she leans into me
This most assuredly counts
She says most assuredly

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you, After you
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh, oh, oh

It's always have and never hold
You've begun to feel like home
What's mine is yours to leave or take
What's mine is yours to make your own

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh, oh [x****]

My current favorite...learned how to play it on my guitar and everything...makes me cry too...

I feel the lyrics in Christina Aguilera's THE VOICE WITHIN really reach out to me.

Young girl, don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl, it's all right
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly

When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within

Young girl, don't hide
You'll never change if you just run away
Young girl, just hold tight
And soon you're gonna see your brighter day

Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed
It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold
When you're lost outside look inside to your soul

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within

Yeah...
Life is a journey
It can take you anywhere you choose to go
As long as you're learning
You'll find all you'll ever need to know

You'll make it
You'll make it
Just don't go forsaking yourself
No one can stop you
You know that I'm talking to you

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within

Young girl don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall

Unlovable by The Smiths

I know I'm unloveable
You don't have to tell me
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours

I know I'm unloveable
You don't have to tell me
Oh, message received
Loud and clear
Loud and clear
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours

I know I'm unloveable
You don't have to tell me
For message received
Loud and clear
Loud and clear
Message received
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours

I wear Black on the outside
'Cause Black is how I feel on the inside
I wear Black on the outside
'Cause Black is how I feel on the inside

And if I seem a little strange
Well, that's because I am
If I seem a little strange
That's because I am

But I know that you would like me
If only you could see me
If only you could meet me

I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours
I don't have much in my life
But take it - it's yours

ok these are the lyrics to a song that has helpes me greatly.

The past time so familiar
But that's why you couldn't stay
Too many ghosts, too many haunted dreams
Beside you were built to find your own way...

But after all these years, I thought we'd still hold on
But when I reach for you and search your eyes
I see you've already gone...

That's OK
I'll be fine
I've got myself, I'll heal in time
But when you leave just remember what we had...
There's more to life than just you
I may cry but I'll make it through
And I know that the sun will shine again
Though I may think of you now and then...

Can't do a thing with ashes
But throw them to the wind...
Though this heart may be in pieces now
You know I'll build it up again and
I'll come back stronger than I ever did before
Just don't turn around when you walk out that door

I love The Fray 'how to save a life' also and coldplay 'fix you' here are a few more-

Tony Rich Project-Nobody Knows

I pretended I'm glad you went away
These four walls closin' more every day
And I'm dying inside
And nobody knows it but me
Like a clown I put on a show
The pain is real even if nobody knows
And I'm crying inside
And nobody knows it but me

Why didn't I say
The things I needed to say
How could I let my angel get away
Now my world is just a tumblin' down
I can say it so clearly
But you're nowhere around

The nights are lonely, the days are so sad
And I just keep thinkin' about
The love that we had
And I'm missin' you
And nobody knows it but me

I carry a smile when I'm broken in two
And I'm nobody without someone like you
I'm tremblin' inside and nobody knows it but me
I lie awake it's a quarter past three
I'm screamin' at night as if I thought
You'd hear me
Yeah my heart is callin' you
And nobody knows it but me

How blue can I get
You could ask my heart
But like a jigsaw puzzle it's been torn all apart
A million words couldn't say just how I feel
A million years from now you know
I'll be lovin' you still

The nights are lonely, the days are so sad
And I just keep thinkin' about
The love that we had
And I'm missin' you
And nobody knows it but me

Tomorrow mornin' I'm hitting the dusty road
Gonna find you wherever, ever you might go
I'm gonna unload my heart and hope you come back to me
Said when the nights are lonely...

The nights are lonely, the days are so sad
And I just keep thinkin' about
The love that we had
And I'm missin' you
And nobody knows it but me

'Wild Horses' Natasha Beddingfield-

I feel these four walls closing in
My face up against the glass
Im looking out... hmm
Is this my life im wondering
It happened so fast
How do I turn this thing around
Is this the bed I chose to make
Its greener pastures i'm thinking about hmm
Wide open spaces far away

All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear but, I feel scared

wild horses I want to be like u
Though we caution to the wind
I run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like im longing too
Run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses!

I see the girl I wanna be
Riding bare back, care free alone along the shore
If only that someone was me
Jumpin head first headlong with out a fall
To act and tear the consequence
I wish it could be that easy
But fear surrounds me like a fence
I wanna break freee ee yeah ohh

All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear but, I feel scared

wild horses I want to be like u
Though we caution to the wind
I run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like im longing too
I run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses!

I wanna run too.

Breaklessly im ......... My self before u

I wanna open my heart tell him how I feel

wild horses I want to be like u
Though we caution to the wind
I run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like im longing too
I run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses!

I wanna run with the wild horses

Pieces Dont Fit- James morrison

I've been twisting and turning,
In a space that's too small.
I've been drawing the line and watching it fall,
You've been closing me in, closing the space in my heart.
Watching us fading and watching it all fall apart.

Well I can't explain why it's not enough, Cause I gave it all to you.
And if you leave me now, oh just leave me now.
Its the better thing to do,
Its time to surrender,
Its been to long pretending.
Theres no use in trying,
When the pieces dont fit anymore, Pieces dont fit here anymore.

You pulled me under,
I had to give in.
Such a beautiful myth,
Thats breaking my skin.
Well i'll hide all the bruises,
I'll hide all the damage thats done.
But I show how Im feeling until all the feeling has gone.

Ooh don't missunderstand,
How I feel.
Cause I've tried, yes I've tried.
But still I don't know why, no I dont know why.
III dont know why......

Kelly Clarkson Breakaway-

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway

Loads more i will write later xx

i posted some of my favorite indigo girls lyrics that soothe me in my blog a few weeks ago. since it's aganist the rules to link it, i am just cross posting these here:

these have all been in my head for sometime now. they all really make sense to me, though some may be a bit pedestrain for the indigo fan that i am:

"well i better learn how to starve the emptiness, and feed the hunger..." indigo girls (es) "watershed"

"but what it takes to cross the great divide seems more than all the courage i can muster up inside, although we get to have some answers when we reach the other side, the prize is always worth the rocky ride..." indigo girls (es) "the wood song"

"alright i hear what you're saying to me, alright i hear what i just can't do, but i got this spark i got to feed it something or put it out for good" amy ray (solo) "put it out for good"

"i laughed as i said it, 'this is my situation it's not pictures or privilege it's just self preservation'" indigo girls (ar) "reunion"

"it's remarkable the mess we make and what we can survive..." indigo girls (es) "all the way"

"it takes a lot to keep it going, it takes a lot to keep it real, take some time for yourself and learn to yield" - indigo girls (ar) "yield"

"i have passed these pines 'bout a million times, effortlessly, now i grip the wheel, fear is what i feel at the slow unraveling of me..." indigo girls (es) "soon be to nothing" and "then i self despise, crying out my eyes, cause the happy trail led me to remorse, but the road is long, and the song is gone, i blow empty in my cicada shell..." indigo girls (es) "soon be to nothing"

"it's just a raging cycle, why can't we bring it all to the end of the line?" indigo girls (ar) "land of canaan"

(and yes, i feel like such a pedestrian fan quoting this one, but oh my god, it is so true!) "well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable, and lightness has a call that's hard to hear, i wrap my fear around me like a blanket, i sailed my ship of safety till i sank it..." indigo girls (es) "closer to fine"

"yeah but i slipped out of my room into the rain, and i went running for my health
i watched those headlights turn to moonlight and finally i was running by myself" indigo girls (ar) "starkville"

"this bitter pill i swallow is the silence that i keep..." indigo girls (es) "ghost"

"all these voices they whisper through my walls, they talk of falling fast, they say i'm losing it all, they say i'm running blind..." indigo girls (ar) "nashville"

"when the winds have blown things round and back again what was once your pain will be your home..." indigo girls (es) "everything in its own time"

"i'm harboring a fugitive, defector of a kind, and she lives in my soul drinks of my wine..." indigo girls (ar) "fugitive"

"so i just sit up in the house and resist, and not be seen until i cease to exist..." indigo girls (es) "least complicated"

"if you can't see beyond the myth of isolation, and the miracle of daybreak
doesn't move you anymore, connect the points and see the constellations as the night comes down on the reservoir" indigo girls (ar) "perfect world"

"find my own humanity and just let it breathe..." amy ray (solo) "pennies on the track"

and of course, the lyrics that have always saved me in every situation, that move me on a daily basis, and that i base my life around for the most part...

"now i'm running to the end of the earth, and i'm swimming to the edge of the sea, and i'm laughing, i'm under a starry sky, this world was meant for me don't bury me, carry me..." indigo girls (ar) "world falls"

Another one I love-

My immortal by Evernescene

I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
Now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

Although (yeah) I have the best intentions (yeah)
cant predict anyones reaction (yeah)
So I’ll just do my best (yeah)
I'll put (yeah) one foot in front of the other (yeah)
Keep on moving forward (yeah)
And let god do the rest (hey)

I don’t know what’s gonna happen
That’s alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery
I don’t know what’s gonna happen
That’s alright with me

Wont let it stand in the way (yeah)
I know what I must do (yeah) yeah
There’s no (yeah) guarantee that it’ll be easy (yeah)
But I know that it’ll beat the feeling (yeah)
Its time for me to show improve (yeah) yeah yeah
It’s okay not to know
Exploration is how we grow
It’s ok to not have the answer
Coz sometimes
It’s the question that matters (yeah, yeah yeah yeah)

I don’t know what’s gonna happen
That’s alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery
I don’t know what’s gonna happen
That’s alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery.

just found this song has anyone heard it before?

lisa loeb shes falling apart

They pull up their chairs to the table
She stares at the food on her plate
At the toast and the butter
Her father, her mother, she pushes away

And they rise in the morning
And they sleep in the dark
And even though nobody's looking
She's falling apart

She gets home from school too early
And closes the door to her room
There's nothing inside her
She's weak and she's tired of feeling like this

And they rise in the morning
And they sleep in the dark
And even though nobody's looking
She's falling apart

They call her for dinner, she makes up a reason
She looks at her arms and she rolls down her sleeves
And her mother is starting to see through her lies
And last night her father had tears in his eyes

And they rise in the morning
And they sleep in the dark
And even though nobody's looking
She's falling apart

And we rise in the morning
And we sleep in the dark
And even though nobody's looking
She's falling apart

These lyrics apply to everything...

friends who were never really friends, boyfriends that never really loved you and of course Eds that were only ever tricking you...

My favourite song of all time

Bob Dylan - Positively Fourth Street

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You're in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, "How are you?" "Good luck"
But you don't mean it

When you know as well as me
You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once
And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I'd rob them

And now I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don't you understand
It's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
To see you

Hxxx

This is my favorite song of all time too. It makes me feel totally validated and actually lets me get out my feelings.

I love "Buckets of Rain" by Bob Dylan

Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears.
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand,
I got all the love, honey baby,
You can stand.

I been meek
And hard like an oak
I seen pretty people disappear like smoke.
Friends will arrive, friends will disappear,
If you want me, honey baby,
I'll be here.

Like your smile
And your fingertips
Like the way that you move your lips.
I like the cool way you look at me,
Everything about you is bringing me
Misery.

Little red wagon
Little red bike
I ain't no monkey but I know what I like.
I like the way you love me strong and slow,
I'm takin' you with me, honey baby,
When I go.

Life is sad
Life is a bust
All ya can do is do what you must.
You do what you must do and ya do it well,
I'll do it for you, honey baby,
Can't you tell?

Looking for angels by skillet

Walk this world alone try to stay on my feet

Sometimes crawl, fall, but I stand up cause I'm afraid to sleep
And open my eyes to a new day, with all new problems. and all new pain
All the faces are filled with so much anger
Losing our dignity and hope from fear of danger
After all the wars, after settling the scores, at the break of dawn we will be deaf to the answers

There's so much bigotry, misunderstanding and fear
With eyes squinted and fists clinched we reach out for what is dear
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We're on a pilgrimage
A crusade for hope
Cause in our hearts and minds and souls we know
We need it we need
We need more than this

[Chorus:]
Going through this life looking for angels
People passing by looking for angels

Walking down the streets looking for angels
Everyone I meet looking for angels

So many nations with so many hungry people
So many homeless scrounging around for dirty needles
On the rise, teen suicide, when we will realize
we've been desensitized by the lies of the world
We're oppressed and impressed by the greedy
Whose hands squeeze the life out of the needy
When will we learn that wars, threats, and regrets are the cause and effect of living in fear

Who can help protect the innocence of our children
Stolen on the internet with images they can't forget
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We represent a generation that wants to turn back a nation
To let love be our light and salvation
We need it we need

We need more than this
I became a savior to some kids I'll never meet
Sent a check in the mail to buy them something to eat
What will you do to make a difference, to make a change?

What will you do to help someone along the way?
Just a touch, a smile as you turn the other cheek
Pray for your enemies, humble yourself, love's staring back at me
In the midst of the most painful faces
Angels show up in the strangest of places

The last night by skillet

You come to me with scars on your wrist
You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this
I just came to say goodbye
I didn't want you to see me cry, I'm fine
But I know it's a lie.

[Chorus:]
This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be.
The last night you'll spend alone,
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go,
I'm everything you need me to be.

Your parents say everything is your fault
But they don't know you like I know you they don't know you at all
I'm so sick of when they say
It's just a phase, you'll be o.k. you're fine
But I know it's a lie.

[Chorus]

The last night away from me

The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand I will help you hold on
Tonight,
Tonight.

[Chorus]

I won't let you say goodbye,
I'll be your reason why.

The last night away from me,
Away from me.

[B]I pretty much love the skillet comatose cd. its awesome its christian but i would recomend it to anyone who needs support in their life!

Hurt by johnny cash

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

I love this Beautiful by Nick Lachey

I see,
Looking for yourself tonight.
And I know,
Gonna sell your soul under the lights.
And I hear,
The emptiness that echoes in your cries.
Someday,
I'll pray that you finally realize.

You're beautiful,
That's all that I can say.
Unforgettable,
I'm caught in every way.
Don't every let the mirror tell you lies,
Just look at your reflection through my eyes.
You're beautiful.

It seems,
You always keep one foot outside the door.
So sad,
You got it all but still you long for more.
And you cry,
So desperate for your place among the stars.
But why,
Your searching for what you already are.

You're beautiful,
That's all that I can say.
Unforgettable,
I'm caught in every way.
Don't every let the mirror tell you lies,
Just look at your reflection through my eyes.
You're beautiful.

Feeling your stars are drifted away from me,
Back to the empty place you used to be.
How do I get to you,
To you.......
That's all that I can say.

I'm No Superman by Lazlo Banes:

You crossed the finish line
Won the race but lost your mind
Was it worth it after all
I need you here with me
'Cause love is all we need
Just take a hold of the hand that breaks the fall
Well I know what I've been told
You gotta break free to break the mold
But I can't do this all on my own
No I know that I'm no superman

Keep On Livin' by Kathleen Hanna of the band Le Tigre :lubdub

You hide inside, so not okay
What if you remember more today?
The phone keeps ringing there's too much to say
You tell them to go when you wish they would stay

You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)

Disporportionate reactions just won't fade
Every dude you see puts you in a rage
Or stupid shit just makes you cry
Your friends are worried you won't tell them why

You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)

Look up to the sky sky sky
Take back your own tonight
You'll find more than you see It's time now now get ready
So you can taste that sweet sweet cake and
Feel the warm water in a lake (y'know)
What about the nice cool breeze and
Hear the buzzing of the bumble bees
Live beyond those neighborhood lives and
Go past that yard outside and
Push thru their greatest fears and
live past your memories tears cuz
You don't need to scratch inside no just please
Hold on to your pride
So don't let them bring you down and
Don't let them fuck you around cuz
Those are your arms that is your heart and
No no they can't tear you apart
they can't take it away now cuz
This is your time this is your life and....

You gotta keep on( keep on livin!)
Gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
You gotta keep on (keep on livin!)
Gotta keep on (keep on livin!)

Hehe... This is my rather repetative recovery/survivor's anthem (notice the signature!) :grin

Ever have one of those moments where a song is playing that you've heard a million times, but all of a sudden, it starts to mean something entirely different to you? I had one of those today. I was listening to my Dido CD for the millionth time, but for some reason, "Don't Leave Home" took on a whole new meaning. It's almost like I was hearing it for the first time. I actually started to cry in my car. It's almost like she got inside my head and heard every lie my ED has ever told me, and turned it into a song. Lyrics for anyone who doesn't know the song:

Like a ghost don't need a key
Your best friend I've come to be
And please don't think of getting up for me
You don't even need to speak
I've been here for just one day
You'll already miss me if I go away
So close the blinds and shut the door
You won't need other friend anymore

Oh, don't leave home
Oh, don't leave home

If you're cold, I'll keep you warm
If you're low, just hold on
'Cause I will be your safety
Oh, don't leave home

I arrived when you were weak
I'll make you weaker, like a child
Now all your love you give to me
When your heart is all I need

Oh, don't leave home
Oh, don't leave home

And if you're cold, I'll keep you warm
If you're low, just hold on
'Cause I will be your safety
Oh, don't leave home

Oh how quiet, quiet the world can be
When its just you and little me
Everything is clear and everything is new
So you won't be leaving, will you

If you're cold, I'll keep you warm
If you're low, just hold on
'Cause I will be your safety
Oh, don't leave home

I have always loved, The Beautiful South.
The song # One Fan has always been one that has reached me on a different level than most.

"I was handed down a bike with a crooked old wheel
But I rode it for a million miles the way that you made me feel
But at least, you gave me deeply profound
as we lay and chattered late upon the cricket ground

And you, didn't have to listen to a word that I said
You didn't have to tell me
All those silly jokes for every tear that I shed,..
Every tear that I shed

Cause one thing I never said to you,
One thing I never can
Amongst the false applause and the deafening cheers
I'm your number one fan, Your number one fan"

Ahh I just couldnt resist posting here! I am so obsessed with music...its like I have my own little world when I listen to my favorite artists. I have SO many favorite songs I cannot even tell you. I like the ones I can really relate to....

SWITCHFOOT let that be enough (I started crying listening to this the other day)

I wish I had what I needed
To be on my own
'Cause I feel so defeated
And I'm feeling alone

And it all seems so helpless
And I have no plans
I'm a plane in the sunset
With nowhere to land

And all I see
It could never make me happy
And all my sand castles
Spend their time collapsing

Let me know that You hear me
Let me know Your touch
Let me know that You love me
And let that be enough

It's my birthday tomorrow
No one here could know
I was born this Thursday
******** years ago

And I feel stuck
Watching history repeating
Yeah, who am I?
Just a kid who knows he's needy

Let me know that You hear me
Let me know Your touch
Let me know that You love me
And let that be enough

THIS ONE TOO!!

Head over here and take me
Head over heels and aching
When I told you I was yours
I was yours

In this life, you’re the one place I call home
In this life, you’re the feeling I belong
In this life, you’re the flower and the thorn
You’re everything that’s fair in love and war

I’m coming down like a gunshot
In all these battles I’ve fought
You’re the mark I’m aiming for
I was yours

Head over heels

In this life I’m stubborn to the core
In this life I’ve been burning after more
We both know what these open arms are for
You’re everything that’s fair

In this life, you’re my only one

Does anyone else love that song by black eyed peas called gone going?

Great thread! :yay

The song Bleed by Anna Nalick is sort of a dedication to my ed. I love this song:

"Bleed" - Anna Nalick

Well, it's been almost a year to the moment
When I finally realized it was over
And I knew that love wasn't good enough
Of a reason for me to stay
Well, I saw you yesterday; you were drivin'
And I tried so hard to forget
You were alive, and as you passed by I began to cry
Over things that I did not say

And hide underneath my blankets and sheets
I'm finally free
I'm killin' the ghost of you, and I'm close to
Awakening me

Yeah, yeah
So I'm takin' my heart and I'm gettin' me out
And love's something that I wouldn't wanna live without
So I'm takin' my heart and I'm gettin' me out
On my own, my own, my own

Well, it takes all of my strength to be stable
And I force your insults under the table
And if you were wise you would compromise
And allow me to live my way
'Cause I am not a force to be reckoned with
And you don't have a clue what you're messin' with
And you can't see to the best in me
'Cause it's more than your heart can take

And hide underneath my blankets and sheets
I'm finally free
I'm killin' the ghost of you, and I'm close to
Awakening me

I'm awakening me

I'm awakening me, yeah

I'm awakening me

So I'm takin' my heart and I'm gettin' me out
And love's something that I wouldn't wanna live without
So I'm takin' my heart and I'm gettin' me out
On my own, my own, my own

I'm takin' my heart and I'm settin' you free
And, baby, now you're just another song to me
And the edge of your sword isn't sharp enough for me
To bleed

Paper Doll my Rachael Yamagata is good too.

"Paper Doll" - Rachael Yamagata

Only daughter
You got your ticket too soon
Holy water
'Cause everybody's getting ruined
They are waiting to see what you do
Too long, waiting

Everybody's cleared the room
And they'll dress you up
Stand you in all the right places
Words like honey
They smile as they change your faces
With no regard to you at all
And you find they treat you like a paper doll

And they'll dress you up for the flight
Like Ophelia, you wave goodnight
With the earth and sky you cheer and sigh
Writhe as all your days go by
And laugh as you die

Sweet softer shoulder, oh sweet sugar safe
Sweet softer shoulder, oh sweet sugar safe

Everybody's got their own philosophy
And I can't wait 'til I
Find one coming to me
Oh, the bridge is narrow
You better not look down
'Cause as soon as you jump over
You won't find nobody around
Oh, the bridge is narrow
And you've got so far to fall
And you know down in dirty water's
No place for a paper doll

My fav lyrics would have to be:

I try to run but I keep on fallin
and everytime I turn around
I hear your voice and it keeps on callin
I'm bound there's no way out...

you wanted me to want you
and I couldn't help myself
you became my addiction
and I wanted nothing else
I feel like I'm trapped inside these walls
trying to find my way...
"no way out" leann rimes

"cuz when push comes to shove
you taste what you're made of,
you might bend till you break
cuz it's all you can take
on your knees you look up
decide you've had enough
You get made you get strong
wipe your hands shake it off
then you stand"
"stand" by Rascal Flatts

I wanna paint my face and pretend that I am someone else
sometimes I get so fed up, I don't even wanna look at myself...
I am slowly fallin apart
I wish you'd take a walk in my shoes for a start
and you might think it's easy bein me
You just stand still look pretty...
Stand still look pretty by the Wreckers.
Sorry, I know that was long but I couldn't choose just one. :)

Indigokaren - thank you for sharing those lyrics! :cheesy I love the Indigo Girls, but need to start listening to them more than I do.....

Flutterby - I love both of those songs! Good choices :yay

As for me, lately I've been really taken by the lyrics to "Adia," by Sarah McLachlan.

"'Cause we are born innocent
believe me Adia, we are still innocent
it's easy, we all falter
does it matter?"

Sophie

Sophie cannot finish her dinner
Says she has eatin enough
Sophie &#****************;s tryin to make herself thinner
Says she has eatin too much
And her brother says, "You're joking,";
And her mothers heart is broken
Sophie has a hard time copin
And, besides, Sophie's hopin

CHORUS
She can be like all the other girls
Be just like all the other girls
Livin in an ordinary world
Just to fit in, in the ordinary world
Just to fit in like an ordinary girl.

II
Sophies losin weight by the minute
How did things get this bad?
Sophies family dont understand it
Gave her all that they had
And her sister wont stop cryin
Cause her father says shes dyin
Sophie says shes really tryin
Problem is, Sophies lying.

REPEAT CHORUS

How did she get this way?
How did she get this way?
Through tryin to hide it.
What does it take to say,
What does it take to say
Shes dying, Sophies dying to

Kessa - ah so nice to see another Beautiful South fan!!!! I LOVE them! (Prettiest Eyes is one of my favorite songs!)

But I also love SQUEEZE more than probably any band I've ever seen (and I've seen them thirty plus times...ok so I am a little obsessed...)

Not for morbid reasons (like I wish I were dead or anything), but Squeeze has a song called

Some Fantastic Place (circa ninteen ninety two) - (This song is actually about one of the lead singer's best friends who was suffering and ultimately died of cancer). Every time I hear it, it uplifts me, it doesn't make me sad at all...

Some Fantastic Place

She gave to me her tenderness
Her friendship and her love
I see her face from time to time
There in the stars above

Her life was tenderness
Her beauty founding grace
Today she lives a better life
In some fantastic place

Her smile could lift me from the pain
I found often found within
She said some things I won't regret
She made a few bells ring

Her life was tenderness
Her beauty founding grace
Today she lives a better life
In some fantastic place

I can see you
When I'm with you
I can feel you
When I'm with you
I can hear you
When I'm near you

Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh....

Some fantastic place...
Some fantastic place...

My apologies if I omitted something, that was from memory...I may come back to edit later...

I love music. This is really a great thread

Paper Angels
(Jimmy Wayne/Don Sampson)

After every day-after-Thanksgiving sale the malls just ain't complete
Without a bunch of decorations and a paper angel tree
There's artificial tree limbs
Saying what she'd love to have and what to buy for him

Well I hope Maggie likes her new winter clothes and her buggy with a baby doll
And maybe Tom'll smile in his new Nike shoes when he shoots that basketball
I can't help but wishing that I could do more
But not just while I'm shopping in the department store

Paper angels you're in my thoughts and prayers
No matter where you are right now remember God's right there
He's asking all of us to help take care
Of his paper angels everywhere

Going through the mail almost every afternoon I see a Mom and Dad's worst dream
There on the back of a money-saving ad to get my carpet cleaned
Height, weight, hair, eyes, date missin, and DOB
A child's name, picture, and the words 'have you seen me?'

Paper angels you're in my thoughts and prayers
No matter where you are right now remember God's right there
He's asking all of us to help take care
Of his paper angels everywhere

His documented bruises fill a folder in a file
She's a second grade self-portrait drawn without a smile
And every town is littered with this kind of debris
We've got to stop this madness and it's up to you and me

Paper angels you're in my thoughts and prayers
No matter where you are right now remember God's right there
He's asking all of us to help take care
Of his paper angels everywhere

Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see
That I want and I'm needing everything that we should be
I'll bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
And she's got everything that I have to live without

Drew talks to me, I laugh cause it's so damn funny
That I can't even see anyone when he's with me
He says he's so in love, he's finally got it right,
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night

[Chorus:]

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

Drew walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly,
The kind of flawless I wish I could be
She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause

[Repeat Chorus]

So I drive home alone, as I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down and maybe
Get some sleep tonight

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
He's the time taken up, but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into..

Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see.

Artist/Band: Martina McBride

Lyrics for Song: Anyway

Lyrics for Album: Waking Up Laughing

You can spend your whole life building,

Something from nothing

One storm can come and blow it all away,

Build it anyway

You can chase a dream

That seems so out of reach

And you know it might not ever come your way

Dream it anyway

Chorus

God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good

And when I pray

It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should

But I do it anyway,

I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy

Tears In Heaven
by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

And it’s hard to believe

That tomorrow will be better than today

Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart,

For all the right reasons,

And in a moment they can choose to walk away

Love ‘em anyway

(Repeat Chorus)

God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good

And when I pray

It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should

But I do it anyway,

I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing

A song you believe in

That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang

Sing it anyway,

Yeah sing it anyway

I sing, I dream, I love

Anyway

My song that symbolizes recovery for me is "See the Sun" by Dido. To me, I think of it from the perspective of a person helping someone else regain their life and helping them overcome an eating disorder. I cannot get past my eating disorder alone, and this song symbolizes all of the people in my life that have tried to help me.

I'm comin' 'round to open the blinds
You can't hide here any longer
My God you need to rinse those puffy eyes
You can't last here any longer

And yes they'll ask you where you've been
And you'll have to tell them again and again

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

Come on take my hand
We're going for a walk, I know you can
You can wear anything as long as it's not black
Please don't mourn forever
She's not coming back

And yes they'll ask you where you've been
And you'll have to tell them again and again

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

Do you remember telling me you found the sweetest thing of all
You said one day this was worth dying for
So be thankful you knew her at all
But it's no more

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

Well, I don't know if this is my fovorite, exactly, but these are the words to Grey Street by the Dave Matthews Band, and they are pretty great, and it is a goooood song. :cheesy

Oh look at how she listens
She says nothing of what she thinks
She just goes stumbling through her memories
Staring out on to Grey Street

She thinks, “Hey,
How did I come to this?
I dream myself a thousand times around the world,
But I can’t get out of this place”

There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart

How she wishes it was different
She prays to God most every night
And though she swears it doesn’t listen
There’s still a hope in her it might

She says, “I pray
But they fall on deaf ears,
Am I supposed to take it on myself?
To get out of this place”

There’s loneliness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It feels like cold blue ice in her heart
When all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart

There’s a stranger speaks outside her door
Says take what you can from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It’d take the work out of the courage

But she says, “Please
There’s a crazy man that’s creeping outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street and the end of the world”

There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It’s more like cold blue ice in her heart
She feels like kicking out all the windows
And setting fire to this life
She could change everything about her using colors bold and bright
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart
It breaks her heart
To grey

If I could hold you close
Like you were never gone
If I could hear your voice
You'd tell me to be strong

But sometimes
I just can't
I just don't understand
Why you had to go
Why you had to go
I guess I'll never know

Ain't it funny how you think
You're gonna be OK
Till you remember things ain't never
Gonna be the same again
The same again
Ain't it crazy how you think
You've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever
In your hand
In your hand
Change

If I could get to you
I feel it in the air
My world don't make no sense
If I'm without you in it

And sometimes
I just find
Can't deny
Don't know why
Why'd you have to go?
Why'd you have to go?
And leave me here alone
And leave me here alone

Ain't it funny how you think
You're gonna be OK
Till you remember things ain't never
Gonna be the same again

It changed
It can make you or break you too

tried to make it work
I looked the hardest way
I lost him in the end
and it was over

I turned my back on life
I switched off at the mains
I cried night and day
'cause it was over

You came up
I swear that it was just like something from a movie scene
when we met, we connected
I never respected you'd be everything to me

Everything I wanna say
nothing that I wanna lose
feel like I will never break
I've been mended by you
you're the reason that I wanna stay
the places that I wanna go
'cause I know, I've been mended by you

he never held me close, you never let me go
just when I lost the fight, you were my soldier
and now we're still in here, in such a different place
August twenty thrid do you remember, oh

You came up
I swear that it was just like something from a movie scene
when we met, we connected
I never respected you'd be everything to me

You are Everything I wanna say

Girls Aloud Ill stand by you

Oh, why you look so sad?
Tears are in your eyes
Come on and come to me now
Don't be a shame to cry
Let me see you through
'cause I've seen a dark side too

When the night falls on you
Don't know what to do
Nothing you confess
would make me love you less

I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you

So if you're mad, get mad
Don't hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
Hey, what you got to hide?
I get angry too
Well I'm alot like you

you're standing at the crossroads
And don't know which path to choose
Let me come along
'cause even if you're wrong

I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you

And when....
When the night falls on you ,baby
You're feeling all alone
You won't be on your own

I'll stand by you

Hurt by christina agulara

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were, but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh, ooh
I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I wanna call ya
But I know you won't be there

Ohh I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

Some days I feel broken inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just wanna hide 'cause it's you I miss
And it's so hard to say goodbye
When it comes to this, oooh yeah

Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?

There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes
And see you looking back

Ohh I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself, ohh

If I had just one more chance
I would tell you how much that I've missed you
Since you've been away
Ooh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line
To try and turn back time

I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

oh and the voice within by Christina A really makes me think about things

Young girl dont cry
Ill be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl its alright
Your tears will dry, youll soon be free to fly

When youre safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothings harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

When theres no one else, look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend just trust the voice within
Then youll find the strength that will guide your way
Youll learn to begin to trust the voice within

Young girl dont hide
Youll never change if you just run away
Young girl just hold tight
Soon youre gonna see your brighter day

Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed
Its so hard to stand your ground when youre so afraid
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold
When you look outside look inside to your soul

Life is a journey
It can take you anywhere you choose to go
As long as youre learning
Youll find all youll ever need to know
(be strong)
Youll break it
(hold on)
Youll make it
Just dont forsake it because
No one can tell you what you cant do
No one can stop you, you know that Im talking to you

When theres no one else, look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend just trust the voice within
Then youll find the strength that will guide your way
Youll learn to begin to trust the voice within

Young girl dont cry Ill be right here when your world starts to fall

It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever

I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life

in some ways bits of this song reminds me of my old therapist who i miss loads.

Your Face Lemar

When i'm tired of all the lying
Have no one to hold on to
When the tears are falling
The sun seems to hide behind the moon
Open arms i'm calling
Nothin will ever replace
Though i know you're watching
I wish that i could see your face

Sometimes i find a corner and i just wanna be alone
I don't wanna say no prayers
And i won't answer the phone
You showed me everybody goes through problems
Everybody cries
But no one can show you what to do when you lose someone in life

I need you now even more than the air i breathe
You always intervened when things got too hard for me
Where are you now?
Can you reach me somehow?

[Chorus]

Many times though i'm surrounded, i still feel so alone
That's when you send a sign to me that somehow makes me strong
It's only when you've been there that the words become so true
I'd give up everything i own for one last dance with you

I think about you each and every single day
I promise i won't let your memory fade away
How are you now?
Can you tell me somehow?

[Chorus]

Sometimes i find a corner and i break down and cry
I wish that i could see your face

I just came across this wonderful song on NPR.com called "In Our Bedroom after the War" by Stars. The lyrics and music really struck me because it's about coming out on the other side of a personal (or even international) tragedy, such as a war. Even though we may have lost everything, at least the war is over.

Wake up
Say good morning to that sleepy person lying next to you
If there’s no one there, then there’s no one there
But at least the war is over
It’s us
Yes, we’re back again
Here to see you through til the day’s end
And if the night comes, and the night will come
Well at least the war is over
Lift your head and look out the window
Stay that way for the rest of the day and watch the time go
Listen the birds sing
Listen the bells ring
All the living are dead, and the dead are all living
The war is over and we are beginning
Gridlock
On the parkway now
The television man is here to show you how
The channel fades to snow
It’s off to work you go
But at least the war is over
She’s gone
She left before you woke
As you ate last night
Neither of you smoked
Dishes, TV, bed
The dark was filled with dread
But at least the war is over
Lift your head
And look out the window
Stay that way for the rest of the day and watch the time go
Listen, the birds sing
Listen, the bells ring
All the living are dead, and the dead are all living
The war is over and we are beginning
We won
Or we think we did
When you went away
You were just a kid
And if you lost it all
And you lost it
Well we’ll still be there when your war is over
Lift your head and look out the window
Stay that way for the rest of the day and watch the time go
Listen the birds sing
Listen the bells ring
All the living are dead and the dead are all living
The war is over and we are beginning
Here it comes
Here comes the first step
Here it comes
Here comes the first step
It Stars Up in our bedroom after the war
It starts Up in our bedroom after the war
After the war

I was driving back from my therapy appointment feeling like I cant go on and cant do this anymore i have no strength left to fight and this song came on the radio i really listened to the words and it kind of gave me a kick and a little bit of light that maybe i can fight this and what it would be like to be free one day without ED.

Survivor Destiny Child

Now that you're out of my life
Im so much better
You thought that I'd be weak without you
But I'm stronger
You thought that I'd be broke without you
But I'm richer
You thought that I'd be sad without you
I laugh harder
You thought i wouldnt grow without you
Now I'm wiser
Thought that I'd be helpless without you
But im smarter
You thought that I'd be stressed without you
But I'm chillin'
You thought i wouldnt sell without you
Sold **** million

(Chorus)
I'm a survior (What?)
I'm not gon give up (What?)
I'm not gon stop (What?)
I'm gon work harder (What?)
I'm a survivor (What?)
I'm gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)
I'm a survior (What?)
I'm not gon give up (What?)
I'm not gon stop (What?)
I'm gon work harder (What?)
I'm a survivor (What?)
I'm gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin' (What?)

Thought I couldn't breathe without
I'm inhaling
You thought I couldn't see without you
Perfect Vision
You thought I couldn't last without you
But I'm lastin'
You thought that I would die without you
But I'm livin'
You thought that I would fail without you
But I'm on top
Thought that it would be over by now
But it wont stop
Thought that I would self destruct
But I'm still here
Even in my years to come
I'm still gon be here

Repeat chorus x****

I'm wishin' you the best
Pray that you are blesses
Bring much sucess, no stress, and lots of happiness
(I'm better than that)
I'm not gon blast you on the radio
(I'm better than that)
I'm not gona lie on you and you family
(I'm better than that)
I'm not gon hate on you in the magazines
(I'm better than that)
I'm not gon compromise my Christianity
(I'm better than that)
You know I'm not gon diss you on the internet
Cause my mama taught me better than that

Repeat chorus

(Beyonce')
Oh (oh) oh (oh)

(Michelle)
After all of the darkness and sadness
Soon comes happiness
If i surround myself with positive things
I'll gain prosperity

The gate is wide
The road is paved in moderation
The crowd is kind and quick to pull you in
Welcome to the middle ground
It's safe and sound and
Until now it's where I've been

Cus it's been fear
That ties me down to everything
But it's been love, Your love
That cuts the strings

(Chorus):
So long, status quo
I think I've just let go
You make me wanna be brave
The way it always was
It's no longer good enough
You make me wanna be brave
Brave, brave
I am small
And I speak when I'm spoken to
But I am willing to risk it all
Say Your name
Just Your name, and I'm ready to jump
Even ready to fall

Why did I
Take this vow of compromise?
Why did I
Try to keep it all inside?

So long, status quo
I think I've just let go
You make me wanna be brave
The way it always was
It's no longer good enough
You make me wanna be brave
Brave, brave

I've never known a fire that didn't begin with a flame
And every storm will start with just a drop of rain
But if You believe in me
That changes everything

So long, status quo
I think I've just let go
You make me wanna be brave
The way it always was
It's no longer good enough
You make me wanna be brave
Brave, brave

Because of you kelly clarkson

This song really gets to me

I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because I know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid

Because of you
Because of you

Okay, wow, so I literally jumped for joy when I saw this post. Allow me to share a few:

"Question" by Rhett Miller. (In a perfect world, if I ever got engaged, my fiance would propose to me with this song)
Someday somebody's gonna ask you
A question that you should say yes to
once in your life
Maybe tonight
I've got a question for you.

"Another Day" from the musical RENT. Which I'm obsessed with, by the way.
I can't control
My destiny
I trust my soul
My only goal is just
To be
There's only now
There's only here
Give in to love
Or live in fear
No other path
No other way
No day but today...

and... "Rock and Roll Heaven's Gate" by the Indigo Girls is wonderful.
So here's to your survival
and swimming up the stream,
crossing over one dam after another
until we get to Rock and Roll Heaven's gate.

:notes From "Move Along" by The All American Rejects

"Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along"

:notes From "Go The Distance" by Michael Bolton

"I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way, if I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete"

:notes "When I'm Back on my Feet Again" by Michael Bolton

"Gonna break from these chains around me
Gonna learn to fly again
May be hard, may be hard
But I'll do it
When I'm back on my feet again
Soon these tears will all be dryin'
Soon these eyes will see the sun
Might take time, might take time
But I'll see it
When I'm back on my feet again

When I'm back on my feet again
I'll walk proud down that street again
And they'll all look at me again
And they'll see that
I'm strong

Gonna hear the children laughing
Gonna hear the voices sing
Won't be long, won't be long
Till I hear them
When I'm back on my feet again

Gonna feel the sweet light of heaven
Shining down its light on me
One sweet day, one sweet day
I will feel it
When I'm back on my feet again

And I'm not gonna crawl again
I will learn to stand tall again
No I'm not gonna fall again
Cos I'll learn to be strong
Soon these tears will all be dryin'
Soon these eyes will see the sun
Won't be long, won't be long
Till I see it
When I'm back on my feet again
When I'm back on my feet again
I'll be back on my feet again"

NICKELBACK LYRICS

"If Everyone Cared"

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you'd be mine
But here we are, we're here tonight

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive

[Chorus:]
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

And I'm singing

Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
(I'm alive)

[Chorus x****]

And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died
When nobody died...

[Chorus]

We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day when nobody died
