I posted this a while ago and from it, I learned that I like doing crossword puzzles. With my pending divorce, I'm gonna have some time on my hands. Since it isn't good for my mind to be left to its own devices :sarcasm I need another hobby!

What's yours? I'm always curious as to how people spend their down time, since I've never had any really (husband and kid = two kids).

Thanks!

music!

i love playing guitar, piano (sometimes), singing, listening to music - loads of different types; rock, jazz, classical, and old pop music like in the sixties :peace
there's nothing better than finding an amazing new band to listen to :cheesy
i'm also in a band (sort of) but i'm trying to join a new one at the moment.

i love reading - if i can be bothered (EDs seem to make it hard to concentrate on reading and stuff but nevermind i manage occassionaly)
and drawing
and writing stuff - stories, poems, song lyrics...
going to the theatre
going to concerts and gigs

hope you find something new to interest you :happy

Cross stitching. There are tons of patterns to choose from (even some CD's where you can design your own :grin).

Sewing. I've already started on this years' Halloween costumes.

Other crafts. Scrapbooking is very popular now. Check out your local craft store.

Usually, local colleges offer free or reduced-rate classes, like painting, cooking, pottery. Most classes are once a day/night a week. You could go learn something new!

I love fixing things (old things and making them work again), redecorating projects, running, biking, yoga, and hiking in scenic, quiet, wild areas, listening to jazz or some hypnotic tunes while doing any of these things,or even yardwork (anything to get me outside or to make something look a little bit better is heavenly to me).

Crossword puzzles are supposed to be great for keeping your brain in tune and for preventing alzeimers. If you like those, have you tried soduko?

Scrapbooking and photography. I've always like taking pictures and now I''ve started scrapbooking all those pictures I've taken.

Purple tao, :jacko I'm glad I'm not the only one that starts on Halloween costumes in the summer. People think I'm nuts, but I really like making those costumes. Its fun to go pick out those fabrics you don't use everyday. :bat

I love crossword puzzles too. I love photography and playing with my camcorder, making movies. I love chilling out to the Beatles. I'm an avid sports fan, and do all kinds of fantasy sport in addition to the sports I love to watch. I like to do creative things, read, take day trips, learn about topics that interest me (current events, criminology, history).

I'm developing new hobbies too, as I enter recovery and find myself with time on my hands that was previously occupied by my eating disorder. I've been doing:

:zing knitting and crocheting...I've made scarves, and I'm moving onto hats. It's so relaxing and helps with post-meal anxiety
:zing reading. Nothing beats a good book!
:zing puzzles (sudoku and crosswords). It keeps my brain in shape while I'm not in school.
:zing writing. Gotta love creativity. I'm trying to start a novel, and I like to write poetry.
:zing scrapbooking. It's a little expensive, but totally worth it. It keeps me reminded as to why I want a life.

Enjoy the new hobbies!

:stars Writing is my numebr one cathartic release! I am trying to get published.:bounce
I write poetry and have been working on a memoir/novel.:bounce
Also have numerous short stories. :bounce

:stars Reading~there is nothing like escaping into a great book! However, I am an avid
reader who tends to read non-fiction-autobiographical-intense books, but I have
recently found a fiction writer whom I :love-- Jodi Picoult :bounce

:stars Yoga~sort of new to the practice adn have not been in a while, but I :love it! I do
not get into the actual "spiritual" part of it, but as a Chrisitan I find it is so
centering and helps to let go of the days burdens and allows time during relaxtion
pose to pray. :bounce

:stars Working out~cardio is such a great release!!! :bounce

I love a lot of things but here are my big passions and hobbies:

:flower Music: singing, piano, learning guitar, listening to music, sometimes writing it.....I even like music theory.

:flower Horses: riding, and just being around them in general

:flower Teaching: I'm hoping to become a music teacher

:flower Poetry: some of these turn into songs.....but writing poetry lets me get out feelings that I can't really express any other way

Sudoku is a numbers puzzle, kind of like crosswords. There are nine grids of nine squares, and you fill them up with the numbers one through nine. Each row, column, and grid has to contain all nine numbers. (I realize this isn't the best explanation, but go to Sudoku Puzzles (http://www.sudoku-puzzles.net) and you'll find free puzzles and more info...read it if you dare! :muhaha).

My other new hobby is self-defense. It's a way to move my body where I don't focus on calories. And empowering to boot!

Hmm, you wouldn't think this topic would be too difficult to respond to, but I am finding that it is. I am a person who always feels like I need to be working or studying, so I have a really hard time just relaxing and taking time for me :ohboy . Anyways, this post is just what I needed to challenge that thinking, so here it goes!

My hobbies:

:butterfly I love to read!! I absolutely devour books and could spend all day curled up with a good book.

:butterfly I really enjoy writing encouraging notes to people in my life to let them know how awesome they are and how much I love them.

:butterfly I love popping a bag of popcorn and watching a good movie by myself. The ED has kept me from doing this for a really long time, but one of my goals in recovery is to get to the point where I can do this again!!

Well... that's all I've got for right now, but this post has definitely got me thinking. Thanks for posting it :happy

i like lots of things...

- reading (when i don't have to do it for school! i like reading for fun.)

- photography (one of my favorite things to do is ride the bus for a while and take interesting pictures out the window. alot of them come out blurry and if it's at night a lot of times the flash reflects back off the window really bad. but i have got a few that turned out pretty good, and sometimes the blurry ones look artistic.)

- watching "Survivor" on dvd. one of my dreams is to try out and make it on that show!

i guess if i had to pick one true passion though, it would be canoeing. it is so peaceful when i can get time away to cruse the lakes near my school. i love being out in nature, and i love the calm feeling i have paddleing along.
