I'm going to say Kerry, becuase he is, in general, a better debater and speaker. (and becuase I agree with what he has to say!:winky)

HOWEVER, I do have to give some thumbs up to the President's image people, or public speaking/debate coaches, because he sure has improved since the first debate. I missed the second one, but this one was much better. Then again, maybe it wasn't any of his people, but just his wife. When he was asked last night what he has learned from the strong women in his life it was "not to scowl and to stand up straight". :muhaha Men should listen to the women in their lives more often.

And I have to mention this...the first debate, Teresa Kerry and Laura Bush were wearing the same outfit. Last night Kerry and Bush themseleves were wearing the same outfit. Seriously, out of all the things in the world one could chose to wear...

I didn't watch the whole thing, but I was impressed by Bush's ability to be funny! Who knew? And of course Kerry complimenting bush and his family and being a good father. I thought that was wonderful. It made Kerry seem more open and kind. I love Kerry. I'm canadaian though so I don't get to vote! I had to say I don't understand how Bush can say he has his faith but doesn't impose it on others! Why then is gay marriage not allowed? Cause the bible says so? I just don't get it!

Even though I am pro one of the canidates more than the other :winky I believe they both were equally winners in their speeches. Of course both continued to not answer some questions and state the wrong facts on some other questions.

My problem is how is using the no child left behind act (focusing on education) going to increase the pay for people when they join the "real world." My boyfriend now who has a master's degree and some doctoral work under his belt makes more money not using his degree in sales. Myself I sit here with two master degrees and post master schooling and I am sitting here making crap!! How in the world did our education help us???

Sylphlover,
I thought the same thing about the education comments. I was thinking...get a clue, there just aren't any jobs!!
One of the things I was most upset over was the fact that Bush didn't answer the question about Roe v Wade. I'm not saying what my view is, or trying to bring it up, but he just refused to answer the question. Even when he was asked a second time by the moderator he sidestepped it again. And not to coyly, either. :ohboy I don't want to begin a debate on it, but I do think that he should answer a direct question in a debate! Granted, they both did it, but I thought that that one was more blatant.
Overall, I thought Kerry did a good job. I wish he'd be a bit more pointed and aggressive, but I still think he did well.

I thought the same thing! While education is definitely a good thing, and I am glad I got mine, I know many of my friends who graduated from college with me that are wating tables or working reatail becuase there are no jobs for them to get.

Another thing I want to question, and I am honestly wondering, not trying to start some debate here, but Bush said that creating electronic medical records will cut down on mistakes and lower health care costs. Umm...can someone explain that to me? Technology is good sometimes, but having a piece of paper that says "Sara needs medication X" certainly seems more reliable to me than an e-mail or computer program that could blow up at any second.

can I just say that I'm stunned about the whole "bulge" issue. Is it really possible that Bush has been hiding something under his suit jacket?

I think Kerry won because he is a professional debater. He's been doing it for twenty years in the senate.

I think the debate was really good. Bush I always think is funny by the way because he always has a smirk on his face.

I am glad that Kerry looked directly at the camera and into the audience, in the first debate he looked at the moderator most of the time.

The Education issue did perplex me. Because yes, education creates more opportunities, hands down it is a good thing, but if Jobs are bieng outsourced, that means there are less jobs. Simply, retraining people, will not automatically give them a job.

Plus, some people? Honestly, not to be mean, don't want nor have the capacity to really learn the latest technology, or the newest ways to do things.

go to google news (http://news.google.com/) and type in bulge. Ignore the articles about Mt. St. Helen's, focus on the presidential reports.

The best article is on Salon (http://www.salon.com/) but you have to be a subscriber. David Letterman had a funny "Top Ten" about the bulge a few nights ago (the results are available via the Google News search above).

For all of the debates, Bush has had a mysterious bulge under his suit jacket. There is some speculation that he was wired (to receive answers?). Others have opined that it was a bulletproof vest, but there actually was denial of this fact. I think if Bush were cheating it could lose him some serious credibility. I think it's fair to say that the US President should have a good enough tailor that he (and in the future, she!) should have clothes that fit well.

Boy you all I have such an ED mind I thought at first you all were talking about a bulge meaning he gained wt. DUH!!

BUt that is pretty strange. I wonder if there is a poll done on how many people think it is a wire. That would be interesting.

IMO Bush won the last debate. He was very clear, funny and he backed up everything he said. I think what he said really came from his :love.

Hey Vicks,

I think that the rationale for education as a way to compete in the global economy means that if someone gets more education (at community college, through company classes, etc) then they will be more competitive, and will be able to get better jobs and gain job security.

No, there won't be more jobs per se, but it means that Americans who educate themseves will have a better chance at getting a job.

I think that education really is key. And yeah, not everyone can get more educated, but there are tons of opportunities out there (for example community colleges have very low tuition rates).

One of the downsides to keeping jobs in the US instead of outsourcing is that a lot of US companies will go out of business, because they simply can't compete financially. And then you end up LOSING a ton of jobs. It's a tricky issue.

Yeah Green I beleive education is the biggest key to really succeeding in life. Without it, your opportunities are limited.

I think my issue is more that, in the next four years, we need to remind ourselves that truly, NOT everyone wants to become better educated" It is the same way I view democracy, some countries don't like our brand. And when I make my education comment, it comes sort of from some of thepeople who I work with who are educated, but who do not want to learn how to do new things. Some people just don't want to.

I would like to see, more equitable treatment for workers abroad. My brother is getting a computer science degree, and it is sad for me to think, that his job could be being outsourced. Perhaps, American's have to lower our standards? I don't know, I just do know, that jobs, are leaving at alarming rates.
