I was a bit uncomfortable about how contentious they were. The only moment that showed an sliver of respect was when Edwards talked about Cheney's "gay daughter" , although I thought that he could have used a better phrase, if she was black would he have call ed her his black daughter?
The candidates didn't answer half of the questions because they used their time to react to previous questions.
Overall from my perspective it was a draw, although I think Cheney came across as meaner than Edwards.
Any other thoughts?

I think this one was basically a draw. Both dished it out and both took it - I got a bit bored w/ their constant harping on their respective talking points tho. I think what this debate really showed tho was that Republicans have the wrong name on the top of their ticket... and I do agree with Ribbon with

Friday's debate should be interesting!!

I only half watched them (I'm busy packing to move, so i had it on in the background) but I do have to say one thing...I would much rather listen to Cheney talk than Bush, any day. At least he is coherent. And to be honest, I think I would rahter listen to Edwards than Kerry too. He is more animated vocally. (Plus, he's really cuteand has a really great accent:winky). This is the communication major coming out in me. It's really interesting to watch the debates from the comm stnadpoint and analyze them that way.
I liked this better than the first debate becuase they talked about more than one issue. It was nice to hear. I honestly got a little bored during the first presidential debate just becuase it was the same question over and over for ninety minutes.
I'm definitely looking forward to Friday's debates though when there are audience questions and they have to answer off the cuff!

:cousinit :cheshire I just saw that Cheney made a big mistake last night by referring viewers to www.factcheck.com because it takes visitors to an anti-bush site http://www.georgesoros.com/ :muhaha :muhaha. Apparently the coorect address is www.factcheck.ORG (not com). I find this incredibly humorous :muhaha.

Hahaha...maybe it was a "Freudian slip"...you know what Freud always said...nothing a person says is an accident. Maybe he subconsciously thinks Bush is a moron! :muhaha
As for the debate, I half-watched it. John Edwards is sooo cute, and seems like such a down-to-earth, friendly guy. He reminds me of a teddy bear:bear. :happy

Though I decided long ago that I'd be voting for Kerry, I thought Cheney did a much better job than Edwards. Edwards seemed sleazier and more like a politician to me, where as Cheney came across as more of a normal person. I also thought that Edwards skirted questions more and made more personal attacks than Cheney did- I felt like Cheney did a better job of actually answering the questions.

Hey Ribbon :sly :muhaha
I had heard about the incorrect-o html however, I didn't realize that it linked to an anti-bush site. Now that is funny thanks for mentioning what the incorrect html led to :winky

I was more pleased with the vice presidential debate than with the presidential debate. I am pro-Bush/Cheney and I found Cheney to get his points across more effectively than Bush. I will be very interested in tonight's debate to see how it goes. I will say this- Kerry is a very good speaker, and I am sad that Bush didn't portray his qualities as well as he could have in the previous debate.

I am not a fan of Bush or Cheney but it was really nice to see two people debating each other who can both form a coherent sentence. Sometimes Bush seems to be challenged in this area, so seeing Kerry debate Bush is not really all that entertaining.
